Succes Of 'Premium Economy'

Tue Sep 09, 2003 8:01 pm

How are the 'premium economy' product performing with the various airlines? Virgin, BA, SAS, ANA, United and others offer this upgraded economy class but is it a succesful move (revenue, load factor etc)?

With the 7E7, this will be standard. 18-18.5" width. 33-35" pitch.

I just flew roundtrip between EWR and LHR and was in the exit row just behind Premium Economy both directions.
Premium was COMPLETELY full going both ways.
As a matter of fact I think Ill be paying the extra 200 bucks next time around on BA, or using some frequent flyer miles to upgrade!

BoingGoingGone, for now the 7E7 is just a drawing and many airlines today offer 33-34" pitch in 'standard' economy class. 'premium' economy is between 36-38".

Proper premium econ has a wider seat and is not just an econ seat with more legroom.

We took it from LHR-JFK earlier this year on BA (biz and first were full).
I've never flown World Traveller, so I can't comment if it's better than coach. But I can say, that it's quite a step down from Club World. Anyway, it was just a six hour no harm....
