United, American, Southwest, Delta Northwest ...They all do great Jobs. Worst are America West, Frontier they are very bad.... Fedex & UPS airplanes are in excellent shape.

I'll certainly vote for Southwest- their fleet has to be well-maintained to manage the kind of systemwide reliability that they deliver.

I am acquainted with an individual who performs work for various airlines, including WN. He tells me that, while most carriers forward assemblies with an "IRAN" tag (Inspect And Repair as Necessary), Southwest directs that all work is to be done to "as-new" standards. Anecdotal, I know, but consistent with my observations.

Perhaps the 737 Doc will pipe up on the issue.

Bear inmind that well-maintained aircraft are reliable; and reliable aircraft fly more; and aircraft that fly more, make more money.

I don't know about Frontier but America West does very well now....their express carrier (Mesa/Freedom) is lousy though, but they have nothing to do with them. =)

Continental of course is tops in my mind, though the past year or so we've been seeing alot more mechanical delays than normal.

Hii Folks  Big thumbs up

The best maintenance in the world, the some awards is the maintenance provided by TAP AIR PORTUGAL.

Some authorities say that this is the best in the world.
And it should be true, because some of the best airlines in europe send their airplanes to LISBON.

Fedex send's their A310 and DC-10 to make maintenance in lisbon, the fleet of 737 of KLM also, some A319/20/21 are also maintained in Lisbon.

Regards.

ATA: FAA Diamond award winner, 30 accident free years, and dispatch reliability consistently close to the top in the industry.

UPS airplanes are in excellent shape.

From my experience at UPS they have so many spare a/c they can afford to take an a/c out of service and not notice it.

No airline could afford such luxury's.

In Mexico:

AM, MX, JR, ZE, QA, VW, LL....

Worst, lately 6A has been suffering a lot of delays/problems with some B732s and occasionally with the 727s.

NW, since they have been able to keep their old planes running great and in great shape for so many years.

Hello,

The best 747 maintenance, will be with the KLM I think. A lot of big airlines like Virgin Express or Atlas Air have got big contracts with the KLM.

Didn't an ATA overshoot the runway at MDW last week? Maybe I am nuts but wouldn't that be considered an accident?

Being A Bit Biased

Well being biased I'd say BA, perhaps the toughest job too, a certain fast delta-wing aircraft.
We've had very positive comments from the UK charter carrier who took some of our B747-236s too.

Self glossing aside, I know that KLM, LH Technik and Qantas have deservedly excellent reputations.
I'm sure there are others, but they are from anecdotal evidence.

I was also going to mention QF as one of those I'd heard had an excellent reputation. Also add to that NZ.

over shooting runways doesn't necessarily mean it was an accident (more like an incident) and doesn't necessarily make it a Maintenance Issue...it could probably have been an operational issue that caused it to over shoot the runway....

In Europe I'd say Alitalia, Air France, and Lufthansa are top-notch.
