I'm sure someone will post it, but if you do a search, the routes dropped have been mentioned many many times. On the other hand, some the dropped routes in Nov. may appear next year (2004) as RJ routes. Rumors! Rumors!

This issue I believe was discussed before. Starting Nov.1, American is cutting STL-LGW, STL-HNL, STL-CLE, and at least 23 other routes, of which I cannot remember at the moment. However, from a previous discussion on A. Net, American is to cut at least 26 services to STL. It will preserve STL-DFW, but I think it is also cutting STL-MCI. Correct me if I'm wrong. I can assure you that STL-LGW, STL-HNL, and STL-CLE will no longer be operated as of Nov. 1. Basically, American is dropping half the cities it serves St. Louis from. I wish I could tell you more.

haha, half the cities. Not even close. We will still entertain a decent AA/AX presence here in STL. 26 in all were dropped, either
A. They were competing w/ WN
B. They needed those cut WN flights they couldnt make money on to feed the other flights. I know STL-LGW has 174 local pax a day, of course they all didn't use AA due to price, but let's say 150 did go on AA the other 75 drew from small midwestern markets WN served such as, TUL, OKC, LIT etc.....
C. STL's O/D couldnt suport the flight
We will have 45-53 mainline flights a day depending on weekday/weekend with 8 757 flights, 2 738's and the rest S80's. However, many markets will be turned over to RJ. Rumor has it we will see an increase in flying by AA/AX as of March 1 (I have my sources too Big thumbs up)

Well being from OKC and I fly TWA/AA routes a lot. I intentionally route myself through STL when possible to avoid DFW-ORD. I am really going to miss going through STL. I will most likely have to do WN thru STL or WN to STL and hike it over to C to get where I am going.
I know I have read a few complaints about Lambert but I very much enjoy the facilities. I very seldom experience any of the horrendous number of delays that I encounter at ORD or DFW.

While stationed at nearby Scott AFB I would take the base shuttle to Lambert to do some "planespotting" for hours and take the shuttle back. The domed central terminal is one of the most beautiful desgins ever built. I started spotting there in March 1990 until I left for Iceland in 1994. I would go just to watch the 747 depart for Honolulu and watch for the 727 that was involved with the 1985 hijacking (64339). The airport offered a great view from the large windows behind the ticket counters and the entrance to the train station. AMC had military contract flights in the 90's using Northwest and Flying Tigers 747s flying to Germany and Los Angeles. I will admit the lower level was in need of renovation, the ceiling was really low. I remember seeing all those TW Express metroliners packed in at their bank times along with the ATRS. After I left Scott AFB they built the new control tower right in front of my favorite window so the view has got to be worse now.

MCI, OKC, ABQ, JFK,LIT, etc etc are some of the cities that will be entirely dropped meaning flights to those cities out of STL will be through DFW or ORD.

Alex.

PS I am curious as to why would AA drop so many routes yet add them up again forMarch? Is this for the spring and summer schedule?

Well, Atrude the rumor for awhile going around was that another round of cuts was coming and that AA was going to completely abandon it for awhile according to my inside man. He works for AA, I get the rumors, but not the financial stats  Sad. But now he said that they are talking about adding capactiy back as of March 1st. Yeah, I know a bit odd, anyone care to guess as to what AA has up its sleeve?
P.S. for all you heavy fans, there are absolutely no plans for LGW or HNL to come back.

While the SWA competition had a lot to do with it, there is a lot more too it besides that. And those STL-LGW numbers LambertMan are not consistent. Not sure where your source got them from, but having been a Trans World employee in higher places where rumors are confirmed or denied, those numbers were very unstable depending on season and commerce ventures. There will definately be an increase in regional activity, after an initial decrease. Trans States will also be doing contract work for United as of next year, so they will be keeping their share of business. Of course frequency gets beefed in March. That is prime time for all travel ventures, spring break, and the increase in the vacation season. So nothing out of the ordinary. Myself; just looking forward to more choices at Lambert, and on the enthusiast side of things, more color!  Big grin

STL-CLE is gunna be gone for sure. We'll only have 1 Mad Dog a day anymore from AA, and that's to Miami.

I was just told 174 pax. when its averaged out, thats about as much in depth info as I have. I'll get rumors but no financial stuff.
BTW, Atrude by saying more color, he means more airlines, hence: different color tails! Big thumbs up

More color is a good thing.

Not only does it mean more competition but it also means more airlines to look at.

The (US) ultimate in more color, LAX, LAS, ORD, BOS. Big thumbs up

I also might wanna add that there is no "room" at STL for AS to come in right? The D concourse is the one left nremianing, frontier will take AA's former two gates at the A concourse, and now whats left?

Where'd you get the info that F9 will be taking those old gates of AA in A concourse? Plus even if those two gates in A were taken up by F9, they could squeeze them into the end of E. Does anyone know what they are going to do with the D concourse? Big thumbs up

Lambert- Was taking a guess that F9 would take those two gates as thats what they used for jetconnect when they flew CRJ's into STL. besdies it makes no sense to be the only airline flying ito the D concourse with only 2 gates. I guess the D -concourse will just remain empty for awhile, like the B concourse at OKC airport which is being demolished I think, not positive, but I THINK!!

Actually, DL has done all of the F9 handling in the past. Gate A-2 was used for all of their arrivals and departures when JetConnect was here. Big thumbs up

Frontier, when first serving St. Louis when they came back, served Gate A8 under lease from US Airways, and handled by Delta. Frontier Jet Connect occupied the ground service entrance utilized by Comair between A4 and A6. A2 is an overflow gate rarely used over the past 5 years; originally occupied by Western Airlines.

I only saw them use A2 occasionally. But most of the time, they were parked at ComAir's hardstand inbetween A4 and A6. You could check in at A2 desk though.
