Finding Aircraft Type For Upcomming Flight

Thu Oct 09, 2003 1:26 pm

I am new at this so bear with. I know Soutwest uses 737 equipment on it's flights. Is there a way to tell or is there a place that indicates the series of aircraft used on particular flight numbers with them? I will be going on a short trip from PDX to and from SMF aboard flight numbers 439 and then on flight 2910. Years ago I used to check the entire route of flights using the old printed OAG's that I got from Travel offices. Used to be kind of fun to see where exactly a plane was going. No big deal just interested. Thanks for any help.

Depending upon what site or other resource one uses, the aircraft type may be listed, but it's only the -scheduled- aircraft type. Initial aircraft assigments are made 3-5 days out, but they can (and -do-) change often, sometime right up until the last minute. The biggest variable to the assignments are what (if any) other aircraft are out-of-service in the route system, and reacting to that is what largely drives the changes in aircraft assignments.

All that said, the two flights you mentioned are on scheduled -300 lines, which is what they should be, unless.....
