When you combine all airports in a metro region, it is San Francisco to Los Angeles with about 18,000 passengers a day. Miami to New York City, excluding Islip, is about 15,500 a day, placing it at second.
When you go by what the DOT says (DOT does not count Miami,
LA, and San Fran airports together; but does count Chicago, NYC, Houston, and Dallas airports as one) it is Ft. Lauderdale-New York City with over 8,000 passengers a day.
I am not on my home computer right now, but later today I will post the link to O&D traffic numbers proving that Ft. Lauderdale-New York City, not including
MIA and
PBI, is indeed #1.
