Mojave Resting Place

Thu Oct 16, 2003 3:39 am

Maybe someone can explain to me the financial consequences of all those aircrafts currently parked in the desert out west.
I know after 9/11, many were "stored" due to lack of need.
Were all those aircrafts paid for?
Can one assume that the financial difficulties of most airlines was exacerbated by the non use of these aircrafts?
How long can an aircraft sit there before being retired for good or cannibalized for parts?
