A330 And A340: Which Looks The Best?

Of the A330 and A340 (all series), which do you think looks the best? I probably lean towards the A330, but both look very good. I can't wait to fly both - for the first time - in 23 days (I'm not counting or anything)! Big grin

Either the A340-300 or A340-500 - although I'm not sure in which colors, but I think these two simply look the best...

Quads always look more special, so my vote goes to the A340, especially the A340-500 is fantastic.

As for the A330, I like the A330-200 more than the longer -300.

In my opinion the A330 looks much more better than the A340. Everytime I see the A340 at an airport I think they forgot the upper deck of the B747.

the -200 versions (both A330/A340) are too short...the -600 is too long...it reminds me these horrible DC8-?? (62 or 63 ?)

I think the 343 looks good. But the 345 might be better.

I love everything about the A330. It has a beautiful wingspan. The A340-300 is OK, but all the others are awful. I really don't like the 340 at all.

I like both of the planes, and as FLYSSC pointed out, the A340-600 reminds me too of the DC-8. However, I'm on the other side of the coin here, I always loved to see the DC-8, so the -600 is a favorite in my book, especially with the newer engines. FLYSSC, you also hit it with the "hairdryer" remark on the A340-300, I totally agree.

KAL744, you have an interesting remark too, but in my opinion the B747 reminds me of an A380 that someone forgot to finish building. Just joking dude, I like your analogy.

The A330; either the 200 or 300 models are the best looking planes in the sky as far as I am concerned. They are both very beautiful and streamlined for being large aircraft. Some planes look very bulky, but not these two.

I think both the A330 and A340 are great looking aircraft, especially in flight. I do think the A330-200 and A340-500 and -600 are the best looking in the family, but they are all attractive aircraft, in my opinion.

On top of that they are great to fly in! I've flown on the A330-200 and A340-200 and enjoyed the flights very much.

Having flown on two example's I have to say the A332. G-MLJL 09/04/2003 and G-MDBD 30/09/2003. yes they were operated by MyTravel who most people on here seem to bear a grudge againt, but the aircraft have a style all of their own and fly beautifully.

A340s are incredibly odd-looking aircraft.... yet A330s appear more aesthetically pleasing/mainstream.

I must agree, the A330 is by far better looking, I dont think I will ever think the 340 has been "finished". I definetlely think they forgot to add the upper deck.

Although they are a pair of hair dryers under each wing there is too much focus on the engines not the giant wing. So the A330 is the best looking because it allows the you to see the giant wing, its not consumed by some piddley a$$ engines! The A340 would look better as a three holer IMO!

May be it's only me, but to say which looks nice or not you should deal with real aircraft, not the pictures. A343 looks just "poor" on photos in this thread but, to me, the real one is the best looking subsonic aircraft ever built (and I am not a fan of Airbus widebodies at all...).

A330-200 defiantly has my vote, is the most pleasing to look at. The A340-200'300's are ruined by those weak engines, The A340-500, 600's look Great as well.

My favorite of A340's is certainly the A340-300, and I kind of liked its performance. About the 330, my favorite is the -200 (the -300 looks like too long)...

But comparing A340 and A330, my vote goes to the A330.

Given the choice between those two, I would have to say the 777.

Really the A340 gets my vote on looks only.

I think the A330 looks better but the 340 is more comfortable for passengers because it is much more quiet during flight.

Aside from the 757, 777 and 747 the A-330 is my favorite looking airliner. The twing engines under those long wings give it a sleek, gracveful look. The A340-600 is just too long and awkward looking.

I personally prefer the A330 over the A340 mainly because I am not a fan of Quads (except the 747). The A340 reminds me too much of the DC-8, and i think that most airlines configure the seating in coach class uncomfortably, at least i think LH and AF do, but i would like to try Virgin.

Although I am by no means a fan of Airbus or their planes, I think the USAirways A330-300 has to be one of the prettiest jets out there.

I vote for the A346, it looks simply elegant with a long, swanlike neck and 4 engines which IMO give the (correct) impression that it's meant for long, heavy-duty routes.

I can agree with you Joni, an A340 has four engines and is relatively big in comparison to the A330. So therefore the A330 isn't perceived as a long ranger by most people as it only has two engines and so on.

My father has flown on a few A330's and he insured me that it was one of his best flights ever in terms of noise, a smooth ride and comfort.

I would like to believe his but i haven't flown on neither the A340 or the A330, but i have plenty of time to do so Big grin

Do not generalize right here. It's not "again the French" who think that but it's only me.

I was exaggerating a bit on this one. The Il86 / Il96 are inspired from the A300 / A310.

I like the look of the A340-500 and 600 better than the 300 version. The bigger engines give it a more powerfull look to them.

i love the northwest new livery on the a330.n i think the a332 is the most appealing jet twin these days since its really proportional. however it doesnt stand a chance against the a345 since is close to the perfectly shaped quad and quads just look better.
the a345 in the fictious lufthansa 2005 livery or the new gulf air would be it!

The A330 is definitely the better looking of the machines. From a head on shot it is one of the most graceful and powerful looking planes of all time IMHO.

Generally speaking, my heart goes with the A330, and when it comes to terms of A340, I have to admit: The bigger, the better!

One exception: OA 343!! With this classic and very elegant looking scheme the A340 brings back the glory days of the B707.

Hope, they keep their traditional scheme forever, with no fresh-from-class wanna-be marketing pros dictating some devastating modernization...
