There went the second one - VERY long float - the weather at LHR looks awful, plenty of clouds. Not to mention that it looks like there's a stiff crosswind.
Just watched this at work in central London. All the offices around had crowds of people on the roofs. The sight of three Concordes flying over London in succession was a simply awesome sight. Rushed down to the TV room to see the landings live. Everyone watched in awe, then just turned away silently and went back to work.
Sad day for European aviation.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana! There are 10 types of people in the World - those that understand binary and those that don't.
I just now videotaped the live coverage here in the U.S. of the three consecutive Concorde landings at LHR . . . all I can say is WOW! The Brits really now how to put on a show.
Farewell beautiful Speedbird. We shall miss you dearly.
Maggs swings, it's a drive deep to left! The Tigers are going to the World Series!!!
It was amazing watching the landings. I was flipping channels back and forward from CNN to MSNBC to FOX news Channel. This will go down as a great day in aviation history.
I wouldn't say it's a great day in aviation history. More like a very sad day in aviation history. A step backwards almost, if you will. A lateral move at best
A very sad day. I taped clips on every news channel and watched them back again and again. A tear comes to my eye everytime I hear the ATCO speak to BA002 on BBC2. .
I'll miss her.
DC-10
(Who still is pleading with BA to keep one operational for fly-bys )
It was very emotional watching those 3 Concorde's landing at London Heathrow.
A highly respected aircraft will be missed and there's no doubt it has made it's name in aviation history.
My favourite part was when the third Concorde G-BOAG was sitting for a long time and the camera occasionally panned across to witness clearly the Singapore Airlines Boeing 747-412 and the gold SIA Bird standing proudly in the background. Another good moment was when a Concorde was taxiing the other side of the MEGATOP with the Singapore Airlines titles showing crystal clear! Fantastic!
Flew on one of the last SAN-LHR non-stops to see one of the last Concordes. God, what an awful week. I truly have a pit in my stomach. Thanks for the memories BA!
