Correction to
AA's fleet total:
There are 362
MD-80s in the fleet... I just copied it over wrong. The total number of 799 A/C remains the same. Sorry for the confusion.
I remember
AA used to have a "Fast Fact' link on its AMR CORP website, but I can't find the part I am looking for. On it, they used to say how many seats the airline had. I went through and roughly figured them on my own. Please keep in mind they aren't 100% accurate as some A/C configurations vary by a few seats. From my best estimate,
AA has 123,446 seats, and
AE has 11,929 seats for a total of 135,375 seats. I highly doubt
AA has the most seats since we do not fly the 747, and most of our aicraft are equipped with "More Room Throughout Coach." The airline removed some 7,200 seats in its MRTC initiative. Sadly, as you may have heard, those seats are being added back to the 757 and A300 A/C.
