I Am Looking For 707s FANs!

I am 42 year old . Live in Nice , France . I am fan of the 707 since I was a child . I would like some 707s FANS to make a sort of group to gather anywhere in the world in order to share the same passion for this " Knight of Skies" .... my e mail is : [email protected]

The 707 is the only member of the boeing 7 series family I have not flown on and they don't operate into Australia anymore (have not done for years) so guess my chances are pretty slim.......

I have flown all Boeing model except the 707. I have flown 720B, 727, 732, 733, 734, 735, 736, 737NG, 738, 742, 743, 744, 752, 763 and 772 BUT NOT 707.

I have just returned from Bangkok and Singapore. And in BKK I saw a B707 landing and again ½ hour later it took off. I was from Africa .... ?

The climbe performance was rather poor compered with modern aircraft.

BUT WHAT A BEAUTY.

I loved the 707 as well!

Especially in the earliest liveries of Air France and Sabena; both of which I flew numerous times. Egyptair's 707's were particularly beautiful as well, with their red and gold cheat lines and the falcon god Horus, encircled on the tail.

In my opinion there isn't an airliner flying today as handsome as the 707. (Though the A-340 comes close!)

It has always been my favorite airliner as well... I went to Beirut on purpose twice to fly it; MEA's 707s and a 720B in 1995 and a cancelled pleasure flight on JR Executives 720 last month.
If you really want to fly 707, the most likely possibility is Saha Air in Iran, they fly domestic services with it. In Argentina there might be some summer charters by LADE 707 still. Gulf Air Falcon in Sharjah and JR Executive (720B) are happy to fly enthousiasts around if you come with a party of 100 fans to Sharjah or 30 to Beirut respectively.

Hi Megatop, that's quite an impressive list of Boeings you've flown in! I see your list includes the 720, so basically you have flown in a 707, albeit a medium range one!

I too, have flown the entire Boeing family of jets, but the 707 was a beauty ! My last trip was on AA (707 Luxury Jet) when they started installing the widebody interiors. YYZ-LAX. I did many 707 trips as a kid on both AA and TW. I never got to fly one, but I loved the 420 series !

Nothing can beat the 707 in TWA's '60's livery..... Roaring down the runway with all that smoke behind.... I've been a 707 fan ever since the first "Airport" movie....

I live in Nice too - I'm not a special fan of the 707, but it was a beautiful aircraft and I was privileged to fly a few times on the 707

Air Zimbabwe - JNB-HRE-AFB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA, LGW-AFB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA-HRE-JNB
Safair - GFY-AFB Waterkloof (Pretoria, RSA) - GFY

We used to get a lot of 707's in JNB up to the late 80's - Zambia Airways, Air Zimbabwe (707 and 720), Air Mauritius, Olympic, Safair, Luxair/Trek, plus various dodgy freighters. Most of them were smokey noisy old beasts but it was fun to watch them take off and rattle the windows.

I'm 42 years old as well, and I'm a huge 707 fan. I've flown the 701, 703 & the 720...all with American. In fact, my 'birth-plane' is a 707-138 of Qantas...VH-EBJ to be exact. In other words, this was the only airliner to be delivered to an airline the day I was born. Wink/being sarcastic

Count me in also as a fan of the noisy, smoky 707...took my first trip on one in 1968, TW STL-LAX and my last one in 1982, TW STL-BOS with quite a few in between.

But the smokiest of all certainly belongs to the CV-880. It makes the 707 seem smoke free by comparison....

Dennys.. I'm only in my 20's but just check out my user name. The 707 is perhaps the best looking design of any jetliner, classic lines: beautiful tail, long & wide wings, beautiful engines, looks good from every angle, sounds like a plane is supposed to. By the way I'm dying to photograph a 707 still in airline colors w/titles. I can remember standing on top of the cargo "U" at MIA looking down at the Tampa 707s below me, and one day, without warning.. they were gone... i can't believe I never photographed them since they were so common.. DOOHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me like the 707? Yeah right.

I've only expressed my love for the beast for 35 years since my first ride on one. My last was, sadly, in 1977.

Off topic but I have no "birthday airplane." Not a single first flight has ever been made, that I'm aware of, on the day I was born. Crying

If you accept an ex-707 pilot among your members, put my name on the list.
I flew KC-135s, 707-100s, 707-300s, the 720s and E-3s...
That was US Air Force, USAFR and PanAm...
I have some 6,500 hours on these great airplanes...
Presently fly the 747... just a big 707 really, airplane concept quite similar.

Hello Dennys and FlagshipAZ - I'm in the same age group - 43. I flew the 707 quite a bit as a child: Pan American, TWA, American, Air India among others; later British Airtours and Sabena. In the '60s, the plane was straight out of the future and a very exciting plane to fly on. The old TWA and Pan Am terminals at JFK echo these feelings. The familiar 707 profile still sends chills up my spine; the old bird remains fresh and exciting as ever to me.

Here you can see one Boeing 707 in passenger configuration Anno 2003!

TC91 is used by LADE (from the Argentine Air Force) and was doing touch and go's last week in Buenos Aires/EZE.

Hi Denny,
I count myself as a 707 fan, my first ever jet flight in 1961 when I was only 5 was on a PanAm 707-121 with the old smoky turbojets. One of my oldest memories was boarding this aircraft through the rear door from a stair (no jetways then) and being mesmerized by the black exhaust pipes of the engines. I last flew on one in 1975, also on PanAm, a -321B. I also flew on both the 720 (Eastern) and 720B (PanAm). While all these flights took place before my 20th birthday in 1976, I still remember the thrill of flying the 707/720.

Honesty compels me to admit I liked the DC-8 just as much as the 707, and I consider myself lucky to have flown on both of these great aircraft as many times as I did.

The four of us ought to go golfing one day, I'm 42 myself.

I did have the opportunity to fly in a 707 only once, that was back in 1981 on a TWA aircraft going from LAX to Kansas City. One of the best flights I have ever had.

I'd be glad to join a 707 fan club.

To Tom in NO...good & not-so-good news for you.
Japan Airlines DC-8-33 JA8006 delivered May 4th 1961.
Scrapped in Miami 1985. S/n 45626 Ln 143

OK then. A challenge for you. My birthdate was December 26,1957. I have several light planes that qualify but not a single Boeing, and Douglas first flights are not in my databases generally.

All righty IMP, I took your challenge...and it was a bit of a search. But since your b-day was over the Xmas season, no airliner was delivered on 12/26. However, I did find something interesting over a 12-day span covering your b-day. To start, a Douglas DC-7B was delivered to Delta Airlines on Dec 27th 1957...N4889C, fleet #719, s/n 45353 & l/n 917. This aircraft is probably the closest to your date. Then I want to mention 2 more airplanes. Boeing 707-121 N708PA, line #1...first flight was on Dec 20th 1957. And a Vickers Viscount 807, ZK-BRD was delivered to New Zealand National Airways Corp (forerunner to Air New Zealand) was delivered on Dec 31st 1957. So over this 12-day period you had a pistonprop, turboprop & a turbojet make some news in one form or another. Wink/being sarcastic

Well, although I'm "only" from 70's, I had quite a few flights back in my childhood on the 707.. just LOVE it! Still remember VERY CLEAR my last flight in '86, I somehow knew it would be one of the last ones, and it was a surprise as it should have been a 727...

Yeah, I'm a 707 Fan too. My national airline used to fly 707-300B's and C's. The B's were all new from Boeing ( CS-TBA to CS-TBG ). Then TAP bought some 2nd. hand C models ( CS-TBH/I/J ) and finnally they got 2 from Portuguese Air Force ( CS-TBT and CS-TBU ). All of them did a great service for TAP and they were responsible for the big consolidation TAP had in early 70's until they were widrawn.
I had the chance to fly 3 times in the 707, 2 with TAP and one with VARIG. The flights were;

09/80 - LIS/AMS - RG - PP-VJH
09/82 - LHR/LIS - TP - CS-TBC
01/83 - GVA/LIS - TP - CS-TBG

The 707 was a great airliner and I really miss it.

I just saw your post. My birthdate is December 18, 1959. I haven't been able to find a birth plane, but would be grateful for any assistance. Obviously, my birthday lands me firmly in turbojet (JT-4) territory.

I flew on several Pan American 707-321Bs (HNL - LAX; OLY (Orly?) - JFK); a TWA 707-331B (HNL - LAX), an Air India 707-437 (BOM - OLY), SABENA 707-329C (JFK - BRU), and British Airtours 707-336B (EWR - LGB) and -336C (LGB - EWR). All these planes had the old-style interior with hatracks and passenger service units - my favorite!

Perhaps we can start a Yahoo! group....

Fanofjets...your 'birth plane' was a United DC-8-11, registered N8013U & named Mainliner Will Rogers. Unfortunately it was involved in a mid-air collision with a TWA L-1049 Constellation over Brooklyn NY on Dec 16th 1960. Wish I could had happier news for you. Regards.

Hi Dennys, I'm a B-I-G 707 fan. In fact I grew up dreaming to become a 707 pilot one day ! I did become an airline pilot but alas, couldn't fly the bird of my dream. It was phased out of the fleet long before. As I am writing this a wonderful detailed model of a TWA 707 is sitting on my desk ! Dont know whether I can join your club but it's really nice to know there are people who share the same passion as mine.
