Great Plains

Tue Nov 04, 2003 10:58 pm

They are off to a rough start from an operational stand point for the new BLV service..seem to be having trouble getting their entire fleet up and running. Their schedules in Worldspan are completey inaccurate and they are running about half their sched..I think they had an interesting plan but the seem so poorly managed that they will sour people b4 they have a chance to develope their new. Whats up "Tech Rep"?

There was limited coverage about their little mishaps:

Aircraft not certified to fly, hampering scheduled ops.
Aircraft maintenance issues in MDW on the first day.

Oct 31st ed. of the Belleville News-Democrat reported that Great Plains was expanding their to their full Oct 7 debut schedule b/c two 328 props were coming online. Changes were to take effect 11/3.

If Techrep were still around, he would be able to give us an inside scoop on these developments. It's too bad Great Plains doesn't update their website.

We are very conscious in management about the pains with the limited flight schedule. We are working feverishly to get the 4th aircraft out of C Check. I am confident you will see a complete turn around of Great Plains by years end.

The third aircraft is now flying revenue and the 4th aircraft will be online soon as well. I say by years end you will see some exciting grow from Great Plains. Please except my apologies if anyone has been inconvenienced with this limited flight schedule. I am also happy to see many here on A.Net have been very supportive of Great Plains. I promise you the worst is well behind us and we are finally on tract to fulfill our business model and then some.

Thanks,

TechRep

Hi TechRep, nice to hear that you´re still around here. What do we have to understand by "see some exciting grow"? Is GP going to pick up some of the 328-110s which have come onto the market? BTW, I´ve some news you could be interested in, email is still the same.

TechRep:

Good to see someone in "the know" here to ease concerns a lot of us may have. I and many of us here would like to see GP continue to grow and reach the vision many have for the Oklahoman airline.

If possible, could you please contact me by e-mail to direct me to someone that may be able to assist within Great Plains.
Thanks.

Hey TechRep

I still want to know why GP hasn't started OKC-MSY non stops? I know the OKC-IAD is Political, but don't you think OKC-MSY would be a better choice. I do tell your employees in OKC to hang in there that it will get better

I really hope things turn around, but I've never heard a flight leave BLV with more than 30 people on it. I know that the airport management gave them a great deal to fly there but I think it's coming back to haunt them.

pilot...the plane holds 32...it would be hard to squeeze more than 35 people on the plane--including crew of course...

TechRep, what tail #'s are flying the BLV schedule, are they seeing the jets or pure props?

Hehe, when I first read your post I really thought you were thinking of Pan Am. 149 seats avaiable and they consistantly left BLV with under 10 sold.

I hope that they're around long enough for me to get some kind of flight benefits on them. I work for the company that does the ground handling and would really like to fly to DC cheap.  Smile

Actually, I've done more landings at BLV in the past week that Great Plains does. I train out of CPS and BLV is a quick 10 minute flight to avoid traffic jams in the pattern.

I go to SIU in Carbondale in the flight program and I'd love to see Great Plains use our airport as a maintence spot! Be nice to see something besides Cessna's and the occasional biz-jet!

We are not opening a maintenance base in Carbondale but we do have mechanics stationed in BLV.

The Reg #'s currently flying are:
N410Z JET
N430Z JET
N473PS Prop
N4335PH Prop (TBD)

The BLV-IAD leg is currently our best seller and seems to average 80% capacity.

TechRep, how do you get a job at BLV. I would love to apply, tired calling Oaklahoma, no answer, no jobs posting in BLV News_Democrat. How does one get a job at this airline?

Atrude777- Cant say that I do, is he in the 552 ACW, if he isn't in AWACS, I probably don't know them :-( THis base is huge over 10,000 workers and 2000 military folks.

Penguinflies,

We outsource everything but maintenance at BLV. If you have an A&P license then maybe we can talk.

ATS, the parent company of my FBO does all the ground handling at BLV. I don't know if you were looking for something on the technical side or not, but here's our link. http://www.atsstl.com
