US Star Alliance Livery News

Fri Nov 07, 2003 3:25 am

Since folks were talking about whether or not each Star Alliance member has to paint an aircraft in the Star livery, I started thinking what planes US would paint upon their entry. So, I sent an email to them and this is what I found out:

"I have been advised that we are planning on painting one of each fleet
type eventually, but will start with the Boeing's next year. I hope this
information is helpful and thank you for your interest in US Airways."

Now, is it just me or does that seem to be going a bit overboard? That is a lot of coats of paint to make one of those blue and grey birds white. Nonetheless, it'll pretty cool to see something different out at PIT, if they stay that is.

Not over-kill actually. Saw the other post about STAR livery, but didn't have time to respond then.

As far as I'm informed, the STAR policy is to have each member to paint one (1) of each type they operate in the STAR livery.

I was under the impression that it was at least 1 a/c.

Unless you are Singapore Airlines, and regular rules don't apply to you...

Usually each Star carrier as only 1 aircraft in Star livery. But maybe they decided to expand that. (with SIA as exception again?)

That's not a lot of coats of white paint, the plane itself is striped of the paint before the new c/s goes on. Otherwise it's too heavy.
