My longest flights have been with BW from LHR to POS and return, taking a total of 9 hours including stopovers in either BGI, UVF or ANU. Those flights have all been on TriStars - I have done the route 7 times. My longest sectors, though, have been TAB-LGW and back on BA 777-200, 8.5 hours each way. The BA flights were in 2001, the BW flights in 2001 and 2002. Soon, though, these will all be eclipsed by MAS flights LHR-KUL-LHR which I will surely report on.

When I was young I flew LGA-CLE-LAX-HNL and coming home HNL-LAX-EWR. Don't remember how long it took, but it's the farthest I've gone.

My longest flight thus far is Kuala Lumpur-Manchester, UK last year. If I remember correctly, the flying time was around 14 hours. I will be taking a longer flight this December; New York-Tokyo-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur. Total travel time is expected to be in the order of 32 hours (including 2 hours layover in Tokyo and 8-9 hours layover in Singapore). The New York-Tokyo flight alone is around 14 hours!

Mine isn't too long in the grand scheme of things, but it was a great flight.

United Airlines, Franfkurt-Washington/Dulles, B777-200, June 1998

Flying time was 8 hours, and even though I had a bad seat (middle in the rear of the plane), it was still enjoyable.

I've done SFO-TPE a few times, and that's about 13 hours of so, depending on the winds -- always in coach -- typically on EVA's 744 Combi.

I've also done IAH-NRT in coach; that's about an hour shorter.

I've been on the JFK-Capetown flight when South Africa Airways use to operate it a long time ago. I think it took about 16 hours. Another flight that I went out was SFO-TPE on a Ual 744 2 years ago. That took about 15 hours.

Good day,

Well, the longest single flight would have to be from LHR to SIN on SQ. It was probably more than 14 hours, in 1994. At that time, there wasn't any personal screen on the B744s yet. It was really torturing. Well, not really. I'm just bored out of my mind.

The longest flight in my life with transits would have to be Kuching to Orlando in 1992 and return.

KCH-SIN = 1 hour
SIN-NRT = 8 hours
NRT-LAX = 9 hours
LAX-ORL = 5 hours

So, probably a total of 21 hours flight time. And worst of all, all the flights were full. Luckily, on the return ORL-LAX, I get to sit in DL's Business Class. Very friendly service. Of course. That's what you get for Business Class seats.

Cheers!

Kind regards,
Benjamin

Nonstop? On a twin, CDG-GRU, 12 hours on a TAM A330-200 (5830mi) - on a tri-engine, ZRH-JNB, 10 hours on a Swissair MD11 (5231mi) - on a quad, FRA-GRU, a bit over 12 hours on a Lufthansa B747-400 (6093mi).

Connection: SIN-BWN-BKK-DXB-FRA on Royal Brunei... that was an annoying flight...

JFK-SLC-LAS and the return trip was LAS-ATL-JFK on Delta. JFK-SLC was on a 757-200, SLC-LAS was on a 737-800. The return trip LAS-ATL was on a 757-200 again, and ATL-JFK was on a 767-300.

SYD-LAX 13.5 to 14.75 hours, has varied trip to trip. Have done the SYD-LHR with the obligiatory technical stop this a little over 23 hours.

Given the extra creature comforts added over the years it doen't seem so bad as it was a few years ago/

I have a few to share...

The longest nonstop flight that I had was flying Continental from Houston (IAH) to Narita (NRT). The flight was supposed to be 14 hours, but because an older Japanese man onboard died, our 14 hour flight turned into a 18 hour flight.

As for multistops, flying SEA-LAX-NRT-FUK was my longest. I flew Alaska from SEA-LAX in an MD-80, a little over 2 hours, then LAX-NRT on Singapore Airlines' 744, about 11 hours, and then NRT to FUK on a JAL 777-200 in first (thank god). That was a little over 2 hours. Total duration: about 16 hours. Not as long as my IAH-NRT flight. Then again, coming back on the same route to SEA, it was an hour less due to tailwinds. Of course, unlimited gin and tonics do help.

My longest flight had been in Februar 2000 from Frankfurt to Auckland via Los Angeles and Nadi.

Duration Frankfurt - Los Angeles: 12 hours (stop at LAX 2,5 hours)
Duration Los Angeles - Nadi: 12 hours (stop at Nadi 2,5 hours)
Duration Nadi - Auckland: 3,5 hours

I finally arrived 2 days after departure from Frankfurt in Auckland (due the international date line). I flew at this time with Air New Zealand.

In December 1983 I traveled to New Zealand, stop over in Sydney.
Carrier was Qantas, a Boeing 747-200, City of Perth, VH-***
Here is my report:
T/O at local time 22:15 in FRA to destination FCO, flight time 1 h 45 min
T/O at local time 01:15 in FCO to destination BOM, flight time 8 h
T/O at local time 14:00 in BOM to destination SIN, flight time 5 h
T/O at local time 22:30 in SIN to destination MEL, flight time 7 h
T/O at local time 09:30 in MEL to destination SYD, flight time 1 h 15 min
You see, the complete flight time was 23 hours with a lot of time changes,
but it was a really pleasant flight with best meals and a lot of drinks.
