EUG To Put Up $1m For SLC-EUG RJ Flights

Wed Nov 19, 2003 6:35 am

From The Register-Guard: http://register-guard.com/news/2003/11/18/a1.airport.1118.html

Looks like EUG is getting together a combination of travel bank, advertising dollars, and a profit guarantee to get RJ service back to SLC. Seems like a lot to me to get the service, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do...

I live in EUG and I am very exited about this... I've heard about this as well as of late... One of our airport administrators went to ATL to meet with Delta to get some things figured out, hopfull we'll see it in June. I wonder if it will be skywest CR2 or ASA CR7.

Should make spotting a little nicer. Still have my wish for EUG-OAK/SFO service.

Did you catch the America West A320 in EUG this weekend? Was it a charter for the football team down to UCLA?

Correct me if I'm wrong,but UA/Skywest flies EUG-SFO now.
I guess it was good for Skywest to wait for some $$ incentive. They were all geared up to start SLC-EUG service in Oct 2001,but did not for obvious reasons.
It would be nice to see some mainline action at the under used terminal!

Living in Corvallis, I used to enjoy flights from Eug, via Air West, United, and even the original Frontier, (yes I am old) but that was in the days when fare structure was favorable to fly from Eug instead today of being forced to drive to and fly out of PDX to get a fare that is decent.

I hear you, Wpmike, since I grew up near EUG. I also did Airwest/United/Frontier(old) out of EUG when I was a kid. Never had to drive to PDX for a fare. But, the times they are a changin', right?

Just seems like a lot of $$ to me, a lot of it out of the city Airport coffers, considering the sad state of finances in Oregon and its cities about now.
