This has been a good year for me travel wise. I had my first trip to 3 major US airports (ORD, DEN, and MSP). And added 3 new planes to my "list"

After many Air Canada A319 trips, I finally added an A320 (N434UA) from YVR-ORD:

I added this -500 (N905UA) to my list of 737s, which include the -200, -300, -400, and -700:

And I finally got a CRJ (N424AW) from DEN-YEG:

Hopefully 2004 will add the one plane I really want to fly on, the 777.

I finally got myself on the following planes -

United 747-400 - doesn't get any better than that.
Alaska 737-400 and 700 - pretty nice rides.
United 767-300 - The only time I've flown a 767 before was on Delta - SVO to JFK.
Dash 8Q-400 was also a nice ride.

That would be me in 21A. LHR-JFK in concorde for the first time out of the womb. I flew concorde prior to be being born from LHR-JFK as well.

I also had the pleasure of flying an MEA A330 (my first A330 experience) only 4 days after being deliered, on the flight Beirut-Larnaca.

RE: What Plane Did You Fly For The 1st Time This Year?

Sun Dec 07, 2003 10:47 am

I tried more new airlines (COEX, OS, VO, RG, LB, LP, AM, MX) than new planes in '03, but did catch a few, mostly just variants of others I'd flown on before:

737-700 (CO) LGA-IAH (had been on many other 737s before)
F70 (VO) FRA-SZG (had been on several F100s before)
ERJ-135 (AA) LGA-OS / KBOS), USA - Massachusetts">BOS (had been on a few -145s before)

and, most exciting by far,

Concorde (AF)CDG-JFK (my first and last  Sad )

Before the year is out, it looks like I will also be flying on a couple of ERJ-145XRs. Embraer makes a good plane, and it will be nice to try the "wingletted" version for a change, but I have to admit I am dreading the idea of spending 3 hours each way in those little things, all the way from EWR to MSP and back. Ugh. At least it was a good fare...

During the rest of the year, I continued to fly almost exclusively on Lufthansa, including more A340's, A320, B735 and AB6. But the plane I flew most often this year was the A321, they seem to become LH's new workhorse for many intra-european destinations (sadly also those formerly served by A300s and A310s).

My only non-LH flight was with Air Dolomiti, MUC-TRS-MUC in September (but again, I think it was a LH codeshare... it gets boring...).

As it looks know, next flight will be STR to BOI in february, guess it will be a mix of LH and UA, whoever offers my employer the cheapest fare. For vacation, it will be FRA-PHL with US, also in february or march.

New types:

A321 - Lufthansa

I don't fly often enough to have an aircraft I fly most often in a year, but most often in my life is probably 737 Classics.

Back in March I had my very first flight on an Airbus A321, Air Canada from MIA to YYZ

Then in May I had my first flight on a 737-800 series, Ryanair from SXF to STN.

In Sept I was on an Airbus A300-600 series for the first time, Monarch Airlines from LGW to CHQ and back to LGW.

So all in all it was a pretty good year....3 new types....I am happy with that! I am next going to try to get my self on an Airbus 340-600, hopefully with Virgin Atlantic in March.

752 and A319. Flew the 752 from DEN (during the March Blizzard) to LGA, then later that Week from LGA to IAD, Connecting on the 319 IAD to DEN. The snow drifts were so High that at night I could see them from the air. Oh yes, and the 752 came up like a bat from hell! the takeoff roll from LGA couldn't have been 10 seconds. Not to start an A vs. B war, this is just my opinion, But It seemed like the 319 took about 30 seconds on t/o roll, then climbed much more slowly.

My first flight on a "Barbie Jet!" I could have flown direct from BWI to MIA but this enquiring crew member wanted to experience first hand the "RJ" experience. I was pleasantly surprised. This little jet was almost as quiet and smooth as our 717's. And, I felt tall for a change. I stand 5'6", the window is reel low so, I for this 45 minute hop from TPA to MIA I did not feel vertically challenged. Space is a little tighter than on a standard sized bird and, the emergency exit row seats are the same when it comes to leg space. Departing TPA I enplaned by airstairs. Upon touchdown in MIA, we actually deplaned at our jetway gate which is G2. My fellow gate agents open a special plank that links the jetway to this "Barbie Jet."  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

This year I flew for the first time a 767-300, with Delta. They were very comfortable in both the International and Domestic configurations. The seat pitch tended to be a pleasant 32", the seats were suprisingly comfortable and supportive, the IFE, though somewhat limited, worked well (the pneumatic headsets were interesting) and the cabin was aesthetically pleasing, inspite of the rather drab upholstery (which Delta is planning on changing I believe). All in all I really liked the 767-300 and I hope to fly on more 767s in the future.

I flew the 717-200 for the first time (ATL-FLL). I look forward to my first flight on the A340-300 with Air Tahiti Nui in March 2004.

I flew for the first time on a 737-700 with Southwest Airlines back in June on a flight from BDL-BWI-ORF. It was also on one of the a/c that has the new color scheme.
