Why is it that Airbus' website is virtually devoid of any mention of the alleged A346HGW?
The only information I could find on such a model is via press clips... no official mention of its stats, specs, development, or even existence.
History has shown that Airbus is a master of propaganda... I find it extremely uncharacteristic that they wouldn't broadcast such an upcoming derivative, particularly considering that the 773ER has now eclipsed the current A346 in range as well.
...what gives?

Supposedly EK's A346 orders, as well as QR's unfirm A346 orders are to be for the -HGW.
After they fixed the weight problem with the A340NG wing, a lot of mention of this derivative was made. But strangely, by just about everyone but Airbus.

It's right, I have also read about the EK and QR orders being IGWs but no official statement from Airbus. Maybe they haven't finished the design improvement yet.
Or maybe because they don't want to give the impression to all those current customers with the current A346 that they have a soon to be outdated A346?
Dynkrisolo, he is not talking about the A340-200/300. Transwede means the difference between A346s sold so far (Iberia, South African, Virgin, Cathay, China Eastern,etc) and the future ones to be sold with the HGW.

No. I wasn't talking about the upgrade from the 343 to 346. FWIW, the 345/6 was launched in 1997 and entered into service in 2002, which is five years not three years. So, obviously I was talking about the 346HGW.
The orders by EK and QR for the 346HGW was announced at the Paris Air Show this year. The first 346HGW will enter into service in 2006. Three years for minor improvements?
Good point Dynkrisolo;
but still, none of this does much to answer the original question... why the heck does the propaganda mistress of the aviation world refuse to advertise these improvements, particularly since firm orders are on the book?
