What Did You Achieve This Year?

Fri Dec 12, 2003 7:21 am

What aviation related things did you achive this year? Mine would have to be that I flew on a whole bunch of aircraft I never have before:

A321
B737-400
B737-500
B737-700
B767-200
B767-400/ER
B777-200
MD-11
MD-82
MD-83
CRJ-200
ERJ-145

Flew on the final Delta 727 revenue flight back in April also.

So what big achievements did you make this year?

Migrated an NNM cluster with 12,000 nodes from NT to solaris...CCIE-Security, RHCE (that was hard as hell!)

Oh yeah, finished the "circuit," of 767 and 757.

Hi!

For me was the fact that I flew another US airline. After flying UA, US and TW I had the oportunity to fly with America West and America West Express. Besides that and as an extremely blessing moment I flew without expecting Air Canada, this because America West couldn't connect me on time with my flight to Canada and they booked me with Air Canada! That was awsome and I liked it!
I flew 2 new airliners, both from Canadair, the CRJ200 and CRJ700 and I also flew a different version of the A319, I had already flew with the CFM version in 2001 with USAir, now I got the IAE version with America West. And finnally I flew my first time to PHX, very impressive and a big surprise, I never expected that PHX was that big and with that impressive traffic.
So I must say I'm pleased with my achievements!

Flew into BOS for the first time...that's going to be a nice airport when they're finally finished with it! I was impressed, anyway.

Also, on the flight back to IAD for the connection home to SEA, I experienced a new approach pattern, coming from the north. We flew west of DC, but east of the airport, parallel to 19L/1R. We then made a turn near Appomattox I think and then landed to the north on 1R. Cool!

Succesfully managed to implement a project for an airline service provider client that involved outsourcing of labor (taking jobs to India/NZ/Canada from the US) and hedging costs against foreign exchange fluctuations. Put together about 160k miles flying back-and-forth between India-NZ-Canada to put the deal together, so lots of travel.

Also found time to complete my IATA certification in Airline Marketing and Airline Finance and Accounting Management through ATDI in Singapore.

Other stuff too, but those made up the big chunk of the year.

I flew on every plane in the AA fleet, sat in every class of service - on each aircraft type - that AA offers, and flew the entire Eagle fleet. I achieved Executive Platinum on AA and Gold on Continental. I also dated a CO flight attendant for awhile!

All in all, a great flying year for me!

See you up front!

    StevenUhl777,

If the approach pattern you are describing is southbound over Northern VA (around Reston/Herndon, VA over the 2 freeways) and then a clockwise U-turn, then the battlefield that you flew over was Manassas. I used to go there a lot when I was in college in DC. Even though I'm not a big fan of IAD as an airport, the surrounding area is very nice.

    Best regards, Dom

I flew all the way from Santiago to Amsterdam via Australia and Thailand over a period of 6 weeks. As you can imagine my jet lag was pretty bad by the time I reached Europe.

    New airlines I flew

    Lan Chile
    Lauda
    Austrian
    Transavia
    Ryanair
    Air Berlin
    Lufthansa

    New planes I flew

    A340-300
    737-700
    737-800
    CRJ-700

All my segments are as follows

    SCL-AKL LanChile A340-300
    AKL-SYD Lan Chile A340-300
    SYD-KUL Lauda 777-200
    KUL-VIE Lauda 777-200
    VIE-AMS Austrian MD-87
    AMS-BCN Transavia 737-800
    GRO-BGY Ryanair 737-800
    BGY-TXL Air Berlin 737-700
    TXL-VIE Lufthansa CRJ-700
    VIE-KUL Lauda 777-200
    KUL-SYD Lauda 777-200

and not aviation related but travel related (I just have to include these here) I took a lot of buses around Europe this summer, totalling over 100 hours

On buses I went from Amsterdam to Budapest to Prague to Berlin to Amsterdam to Barcelona to Madrid to Barcelona and then back to Amsterdam.
It was alot of time on the road.

So all in all aviation and travel wise Ive had a very succesful year.

When it comes to aviation "firsts", I've managed to get on a few new airlines for me:

    HLX
    4U
    AB
    DE

    ..a new aircraft version:

    B757-300

    ...and a few new airports:

    VIE
    MXP
