AA New Route: BOS-MBJ (seasonal)

Mon Dec 15, 2003 9:28 am

American Airlines will start non-stop Boston to Montego Bay service. They will operate a Saturday-only 757-200 starting 1 February 2004 through 30 May 2004. They currently offer daily service from Montego Bay to JFK and twice-daily to Miami.

Very good move for AA and is additional more new flight from BOS-MBJ flight and those load factors was doing very well on their way to Jamaica. Is that possible was competition of Air Jamaica from BOS to KIN or MBJ. Are you still think about will added more expansion out of BOS anytime eoon? Thanks!  Smile

Looks like they're trying to stop US from continuing their BOS-Carribean non-stop expansion....

Are there any routes from BOS that AA and US are directly competing on besides SJU? Maybe CUN?

Air Jamaica recently upgraded the BOS-MBJ route to a A321 from a A320. The JM service is also now daily rather than 6 days a week.

Yeah, this is good move for daily flight by JM & AA or US. It is still competing of these flight. I know this is quite doing very well with JM and this is still using with the codeshare with DL for very often. is that keeping trying to continues expansion more new caribbean flight out of BOS.

For once, it's not US with the Saturday-only flight. :P US will be operating BOS-MBJ 4x weekly beginning February 14. I don't believe the US service is seasonal, either, but I could be mistaken.

Are there any routes from BOS that AA and US are directly competing on besides SJU? Maybe CUN?

I believe that, to the Caribbean, US and AA will be competing on AUA, BDA, CUN, MBJ, and SJU. Only AA has nonstops to PAP, PLS, STT, and SDQ. Only US has nonstops to NAS. Otherwise, they compete on LGA, PHL, DCA, and RIC.
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.

US has a n/s to SJU from BOS, so for 'caribbean bound' competition, its SJU and CUN that AA and US compete directly against each other for. Though, AA has an impressive offering from BOS.

American has discontinued BOS-BDA. There are rumours that they will be starting MIA-BDA this summer, as the Bermudan government has offered them a revenue-guarantee to operate the route. USAirways is the only airline to currently fly between Miami and Bermuda with summer-only FLL-BDA service.
