Indeed you do step down on the 757 cockpit. I almost fell several times on the 757/767 cockpits when I worked for
AA. I think the
AC is wonderful. The BIGGEST problem I had with the 757 is that when I was a gate agent we got a complement of only 2 agents to work the departure on an
AC that seated not to many fewer than a 767-200. When the flight was full or oversold it was a nightmare! One time I was working a
ORD-
LAX 757 departure. It was bizarre. It was the first time I had a celebrity check in that I cared about! It was George Takkei (Sulu of Star Trek fame!) I had to go on board for some reason or another. The aisle was a mess with everybody trying to put carryon away. I finally made it toward the end of the very long cabin. A young women was looking very distraught and asked me if any more passengers were going to be on the flight. I told her that every seat would be taken. She almost burst into tears. That's the only true negative of the 757. Just one aisle for that many pax! My favorite aspect of the 757 is how steeply and quickly that plane takes of! Just about vertically compared to the 727/737 planes of that era.
