Southwest has a billboard outside of SAT that says Phoenix Phast... Assuming going to Phoenix is motivation to fly.

"there was a full page ad in the NY Times saying something about how the airlines' relationship was based on mutual respect, blah blah blah. The picture showed Richard Branson and Gordon Bethune, each holding two fingers over the other's head."

That is hilarious. Does anyone know where I can view that ad online, perhaps?

You know, PiedmontGirl, you really are a class act! That's why Piedmont was the great airline it WAS. I mean caviar and Moravian Ginger Cookies from CLT to SFO.... It sure is too bad it's "useless" now. But then again, The Wolfe strikes!

My beloved intro to aviation, Air Nova, an Atlantic Canadian based regional (now dead and reincarnated as a part of Jazz Air) was "A Class Above". A true statement of it's employees and what it used to be. Not a world classic, but in this end of the world she certainly was a classic.

Why, thank you!! What a lovely thing to say!  Smile

I remember serving that caviar......and I remember the Moravian Ginger Cookies with the fruit and cheese course. I also remember serving the whole boneless stuffed baby trout. It was stuffed with crab meat. Very nice dish.

The "I'm (Tammy, Debbie etc), Fly Me" ads were from National. The slogans we're brilliantly parodied in the 1975 10cc song "I'm Mandy, Fly Me".

I always liked
"go. see. do."
or Delta's "Fly ____" (the blank would be filled in with various things)

"you'll love the way we fly"
"Something Special in the air"

Heared a nice joke about Airline-slogans from an aussie:
A man sitting in L.A., waiting for his departure. He saw a beautiful lady in her uniform and wanted to know what airline she is working for.
He didn't want to ask her so he tried to find it out with the Airline-slogans.
He said: "WE LOVE TO FLY AND IT SHOWS?"
She was looking little confused.
He: "ah, she is no DL-flight attendent. Maybe American? - THERE 'S SOMETHING SPECIAL IN THE AIR?"
She looked little angry.
He: "Ok, no AA, maybe LH? THERE'S NO BETTER WAY TO FLY?"
She turned around and said: "EIH, WHAT THE FUC**** HE** YOU TALKING ABOUT, YOU BAS****?"
He: "Aaaah, Qantas!"

By the way: I LOVE QF

I like the new different DL slogans:

fly... refreshed

fly... tidy

fly... entertained

fly... somewhere fun

fly... organized

fly... comfortable

fly... on time

etc., etc.

I also liked:

DELTA: You´ll love the way we fly!

TWA: One Mission... Yours!

Northwest: Some people just know how to fly!

Continental: One airline can make a difference!

Best regards,
