What Made Rich Int'l Go Under?

What made JN go under? What were the final days like? I know they had an affiliation with IAL (leased the DC8 from them). Any and all info would be awesome. They were a great airline.

I don't know all the details but I read in the paper the other day about George Batchelor's estate being divvied up and that Rich has a claim for about $25 million because they allegedly got screwed by Batchelor and/or IAL. IAL was left saddled with debt and taxes up the yang-yang.

Part of the JN shutdown was due to FAA violations.

worked there till just before shutdown, lots of bad management moves, especially when it came to dealing with batch/ial

The true Queen of the Skies has an HF antenna probe atop the stabilizer, the Boeing 707-321B

When I flew them on a tour charter flight from HNL to LAS, I could tell that the L-1011 we flew on had been around the block a few times. Looking at the reg #, N104EA, I knew that Eastern must have worked that jet while they had it. There didn't seem anything wrong with the planes. I slept all the way home. Just seemed old and battered.
