SCH DEP FRA ARR ATL

DEP FRA 9:50am
ARR SNN: 12:45pm
Status: Flight Complete
DEP SNN 5pm (SCH)
ARR ATL 8:30pm (SCH)
Status: On Schedule

It appears that there is a CHANCE that they are bringing another plane out. I'm going to try to get info ASAP

DL 15 appears to be 20 minutes late (same route) but there is no diversion as of now.

Hi guys, here is the link to the BBC Website with the story

US plane diverted in bomb scare

US airlines are still on high alert
A Delta Airlines plane travelling from Germany to the US has made an emergency landing in Ireland after a bomb scare.
Flight 27 was on its way from Frankfurt to Atlanta when it was diverted to Shannon airport in western Ireland.

The 147 passengers and crew were taken off the plane so that security officials could conduct a search.

A spokesman for the Irish airports authority Aer Rianta said the army bomb squad had been called in and the search was expected to take several hours.

Delta Airlines said the Boeing 767-300 jet landed at Shannon at about 1245 GMT, three hours after it took off from Frankfurt.

Irish police said the landing was "security-related", but gave no further details.

According to delta.com it's Delta flight 27, which left FRA this morning at 09:50 (scheduled 09:45), and was supposed to come into ATL at 1355.

If I read the page right, it landed in SNN at 1220, so I guess that it was already some way above the Atlantic.

sorry Leskova Big grin

It must have been over the Atlantic as it took 3 hours to fly 772 miles. so, it was probably a little ways over at the time and turned around.

any idea what the pasengers get (other than a free frisking!) during delays due to this nature?

I hope that there is no bomb on board and I hope also that they find this idiot who wrote the notice, they should sue this person and throw his/her a$$ into jail. Very funny to scare the crew and the passengers of a transatlantic flight  Yeah sure.

OK...
This is odd. It is showing flight 27 as terminating at SNN. Then, it shows tomorrows 27 as "at gate" as well as BOTH of TONIGHTS flights TO FRA. What is going on!?!?!

So, I guess: nothing new so far...

They probably cleared customs in Ireland. I know that Ireland is the only country that has US Customs facilities in their airports. They make it really quick, I know because when we were in DUB, we got there really early (Like seven am for a noon flight) because we thought customs would be a bitch. It wasn't

Anyway, someone posted in another thread that DL put the passenger up in hotels tonight. Was the plane flown back empty??

PROSA,

Europe is off season. I am sure most of the majors have just as many empty seats as Delta. Nothing for share holders or sky miles members to worry about.

Something to warm delta shareholders hearts. CO FL #50, ewr to fra has only 60 seats reserved for the Jan 26th flight, on a 764. Seems that if Delta has 164 pax for the similar flight then their doing a-ight

A news station in Nashville just reported the aircraft as a 737.

I love watching the news because their facts are always correct.

Oh great, first he´s dumb enough to post such a note, then he proves even more stupidity by getting himself caught. Sheesh...

On a side note, would you all please think of a better terminology than "emergency landing"?

Even more stupid is that he was a victim of his own "joke", he had to spend one day in SNN instead of flying directly to ATL, what a moron.

I hope he gets sued by DL. I can imagine the the delay, the hotel costs for the passengers and crew, and an intensive bomb search is quite expensive.

The sad thing is that the other passengers will probably launch a lawsuit against Delta. This event caused them undue stress and anguish. Now they have nightmares and can't function. US courts already said that this is a way around the Warsaw Convention.

I'm sure some pax would try to launch a lawsuit against DL, but what could they do? They can't be responsible for the actions of all pax, BUT what I'd like to know is, what will happen to this young moron? As the offence took place on board a US aircraft, would the US authorities be likely to apply to have him extradited.

He has been charged under our Air Navigation Act 1975 and I understand that the court can impose a custodial sentence.

I am appalled, in this day and age, when people are that much more sensitive about security while flying, that someone would do something so stupid and well done to the gardai for finding him.

Incidentally, 147 pax on a DL 763 is not bad at all, particularly in January. That amounts to 75% (the config is CY/195).

With the hundreds of millions of people that fly every year, you're bound to have some dumb a$$ do stuff like that every once in awhile. He needs to spend a year or so in jail and compensate Delta, imo.
