Yes! Now we don't need AF anymore! I would like to say to the KLM management: 'Don't sign the agreement in April, AF will take all your cash...'

we never needed AF in the first place.
KLM was in the red for only 2 quarters, and all that did was decrease the cash reserves a bit.
The negative numbers for the year were caused almost completely by the payments on the new aircraft and the fact that the sale of the old ones didn't bring the expected cash in time.

KLM agent here.
It is not likely that KLM will keep their independence. It is straight ahead for AF-KL unfortunately. As soon everything is approved you will see some heavy duty brand management going on. Just like a few years ago wit KLM/Alitalia. What a disaster that turned out to be!
I am glad however for KLM.

Though that will be a disaster only for KLM and the Dutch economy as jobs and money will be quickly siphoned away to Paris leaving Schiphol an empty shell.

If you could try to concentrate on logical and factual statements, that would be great.
AF might be inefficient (KLM is barely better) but it's not a vampire that will steal your best routes, sack your staff, take your money, and rape your kittens.

AF in fact IS a vampire.
They've killed every airline in France already and are now expanding into Europe.
The scheme is always the same:
1) AF buys the airline for a sum of cash (usually involving some underhand dealings)
2) The airline suddenly starts to run extremely poorly and loosing spades of money
3) a few years later the airline is declared bankrupt with AF being the largest debtor getting all the routes and equipment.
Happened only last month once again...
