EX America West Aircraft

Mon Feb 02, 2004 3:14 pm

I have noticed on my recent trips to BNA that there are about 6 (CRJ-700)maybe more United Express aircraft that were recently America West,

Why the mass exodus from America West?

I may be mistaken, but am fairly positive that these a/c are owned and operated by Mesa Airlines, not AmWest. Being an independent airline, Mesa operates under the express/connection banner of many airlines. (HP, UA, US to name a few)

Hope this helps!

Does anyone know if Mesa changed the interiors on the planes between the time they left America West and joined United? I know they still have the 6 first class seats, but the original seats had America West logos and colors on them. It seems like it would be free advertising for America West on United Express if they didn't recover the seats.

Can't tell you for sure, havn't flown one since they've been with UAex. I'd imagine so, though maybe just the f/c seats?

America West decided that it preferred to split its Mesa RJ ops between the 200s and the 900s. They were able to work out a deal with Mesa/UA whereby all of the 700s would be transferred to United Express flying.

Based on information I received last week, the final CR7 will stop flying as America West Express on March 26.

I hope this helps.
