TED's 1st Day Of Service @ DEN

Thu Feb 05, 2004 3:43 pm

I would like to know from any UAL employees what the plans are for the first day of service for TED. Will there be a party on the concourse for the first flight? Also do you know what gate they will be departing from? If the rumor is true about the new UA livery will the 747 painted in that livery be parked at or near the TED gate? I would also just like to confirm the time and date of the first flight if you can do that for me too! Thank you! I am planning on flying non-rev on F9 that day so that I can get over to the TED gate and take a look at the new aircraft and hopefully see a new UA livery too! Please help with any information that you may have it would be much appreciated!

UAL747DEN,

I don't know about the party, but I think United will be using their gates on the A-concourse. As for the new scheme, I haven't heard anything about that either. For the rollout of TED, we got a memo in our mailboxes, so I went and promptly nailed the bird  Smile/happy/getting dizzy. At this point, there are no confirmed news about the new livery. About that 747... I don't think you can park a 747-400 on those gates. They are not intended for widebodies. MAYBE, if the rumors you hear are indeed true, they'll park it at A-41 (Lufthansa/Mexicana) gate, but that is highly unlikely. The date of the first Ted flight is on February 12th, I don't know about the time, but I'll try to find out and post the info here.

You say that you'll non-rev on Frontier that day. If you want, I can meet up with you in the A-Concourse, so if you want, just drop me a line or post the info about your flight time here, and if I can, I'll try and go to the A-con to meet up. In any case, I hope Ted works out and helps us out of Chapter 11.

Hopefully I can answer more questions and good luck with your non-revving.

Sincerely,

Alex.

Do we really think they'd steal TED's spotlight by releasing the new mainline livery?

Although there will be early morning flts LAS-DEN and DEN-LAS, UA and the media will be treating flt 1400 to FLL, ETD 1020, as the first TED flight. This is the one that will have the press and officials onboard. I don't know specifics, but there will definitely be festivities at the gate and "goodie bags" handed out to pax on the flts for the first few days on all TED flights. On 12Feb only DEN, LAS, and FLL will officially be TED, although all TED cities will dept from the A-Concourse. The remaining cities will officially roll over to TED in the subsequent weeks, as more TED planes are configured.

I'll be in DEN again on the 12th (arriving on LH) and then on the 16th (leaving on UA) - any chance of seeing TED?

I don't know about a party at the gate but there will be a party of 24 UAL Flight Attendants picketing outside on the west side of the fifth level.

Happy day Big thumbs up

Great that TED is off the ground.

Only thing left is to introduce UA's new livery. Any idea when that will happen? Has to be within the next few days, I would think.

I thought I heard that the livery rollout will be on February 16 or 18 -- correct me if I'm wrong!

What is the start date for TED, and what are the original routes?  Confused

UPDATE

Today we'll have a Ted Preview at work. I suppose I'll have enough time to go in, check it out and possibly take pictures.

I heard that Jim Goodwin and Rono Dutta have been invited as honorary non-rev passengers on the first Ted flight. Can anyone confirm?
