What Does Queen Noor Travel On?

Wed Feb 11, 2004 11:02 am

Queen Noor is expected to appear in Toronto on March 12. Does anyone know what she is likely to travel on or has used to get around on in the past?
I am aware that the Jordanian Government operates two Challenger 604s but am not sure how these are configured.

She definitely gets a Challenger. Wasn't her first husband the CEO of Pan Am or something? I'm sure she has an aviation background.

Her Father, Najeeb Halaby, was the president of PanAm.

What brings Queen Noor to Toronto??

Was the L-1011 originally in the PanAm fleet and sold to DL? A search of the photo database yielded these two photos:

Obviously in it's new life, this L-1011 is operated in a "VIP" configuration. I would love to get some cabin views on this one...Anybody know the Queen?

I assume, although maybe mistakenly, that she will be in Toronto for the same reason she will be in Vancouver for the Unique Lives and Experiences speaking tour.

I wouldn't mind seeing Queen Noor, but they are still selling series tickets, and I don't want tickets to all the presentations.

The late King Hussein (the Queen's husband) was a pilot and was often seen flying his jet around the world. In fact, he was still flying not long before he died.

Kdonohue....I don't think that Hussein was Queen Noor's husband. I think that was her father-in-law, as if I remember right, her husband is around her age and they have two little ones, maybe both under 10 years old or just over that age now. I would love to hear her speak, but I'm a bit out of the neighborhood....hence the s/n

Some of you people need to pick up a book or read a paper!!!!

Queen Noor, nee Lisa Halaby. US born Daughter of Najeeb Halaby. Appointed as the first Arab American to head the FAA, later Pres. of Pan Am.

Lisa Halaby became the second wife of the late King Hussein of Jordan!

Dtw,

Sorry, I knew the senior King passed, but I didn't know the younger King did....So the Queen is not only young, but widowed with two young ones? Wow, thanks for the info. I guess I need to read the paper more and not go straight to the travel section....

No, she was married to the "Senior King". She was 20 years or son younger.

Talk about a trophy wife. Real Ivy league, cheerleader, etc.

Her Stepson is now the King!

HNLFlyboy,

I think the lady that you are thinking of is HRH Queen Rania Al-Abdullah. She is the wife of today's HRH King Abdullah bin Hussein, who is King Hussein's son.

They actually have 3 children, 2 boys and a girl. Being as gorgeous as she is, the children didn't get their looks from her. lol

As already stated, Queen Noor was the second wife of the late HRH King Hussein.

I don't think they are using the L1011 anymore... so you might expect this bird instead:

A clarification for anyone who is interested:

Queen Noor was the FOURTH wife of King Hussein.

Hussein's first wife was Sharifa Dina Abdel Hamid (Queen Dina). She was a distant Hashimite cousin and she and the King had one daughter.

The second wife was the American Antoinette Gardiner. She and the King had four children.

Alia Toukan, a Palestinian, was the King's third wife, with whom he had three children. Queen Alia died tragically in a helicopter crash.

Lisa Halaby married King Hussein in June 1978. They had five children.

King Hussein died of cancer in 1999. His oldest son, Abdullah is now King of Jordan. (And yes, his Palestinian wife, Queen Rania, is a KNOCKOUT.)

Lisa "Queen Noor" is also a true Harley Davidson freak! she has a collection, and her and the late King would often ride out in the desert, away from the Muslem fanatics. Want to meet her? slip her a note that you can hook her up with a new loaner while she is in town.

Yes, Queen Rania is quite stunning. From articles I've read it sounds like both her and King Abdullah are pretty cool people. Speaking of the Jordanian royal family, what is the VIP A342 used for?

Being from Jordan and very close to some members of the Royal family, I can tell you a few things:

1) They do not operate the lockheeds anymore, they have ONE A342, painted in a RJ c/s with special titles. It is parked in a hangar at AMM. They also have two small regional jets.

2) The late King Hussien's second wife was indeed British. King Abdulla is her son.

3) When the Royal family travels together, they use the airbus. When alone, Queen Noor and the rest of the royal family use commercial airliners, booking the entire first class cabin for themselves and their help. HRH King Abdullah uses the airbus when travelling alone, obviously.

I stand corrected; Antoinette Gardiner was indeed English - not American.

DukeBlueDevil: Perhaps you can tell me; is the former Ms. Gardiner still living? And if so, with her son now King, is she still titled Princess Muna?

EmiratesA345 - a Queen or a King are always called Her/His Majesty while Princes and Princesses are called Her/His Royal Highness (although there are some minor variations to this rule).

Dukebluedevil - Strange that being so close to the royal family that you would get His Majesty King Abdullah II's title wrong.
