Very Significant-need help writing an Av-related paper

Fri Feb 13, 2004 8:29 am

I am writing a paper on the History and developement of modern American aviation. I have a few sub topics and I wanted to know if anybody could think of a few to help me out. I am looking for events/ideas like the switch from point to point to the hub and spoke method adn also the deregulation of the industry. If you guys know of anymore, I appreciate you posting them.

Thanks,
-S.R.

What about the amazing history/growth of the Air traffic control system. The events like the mid air crash over the grand canyon that really put a fire under someone's butt to get a better air traffic system.. Just a thought.

*Associated industries -- hotels by airport, started by Hilton, became a big thing

*Introduction of Regional Jets is one of the new trends

*Security -- how that has affected air travel (security before flight, baggage matching, cockpit door, air marshall)

*Aircraft having longer range but smaller capacity -- point-to-point (Boeing philosophy -- but used mainly by airlines in the US) as opposed to bigger planes connecting mega-center (Airbus philosophy)

*Alliances

*Low-cost carrier growth
