Should The A.net Logo Become An A380?

Sat Feb 14, 2004 12:55 am

Once the A380 flies, should the heading (the front of a B747) at the top of this website be changed in favor of the A380 ? It will be the largest commercial aircraft then... The site has to be kept up to date, no ? Just my point of view.

Personally, I think no.

Whilst I'm sure the A380 will be a fine aircraft, the B747 is more than that. I'd go so far as to say that the aircraft is an icon of our time and definitely deserves its picture on the homepage of A.Net.

May I ask why does it have to be the largest aircraft flying to be the logo?

I am not putting down the idea I just don't see why it has to be the largest aircraft around,
look how many aircraft there are out there, loads would look good as a logo not just one that is new and big,
personally I think it should be a well known aircraft like the 747 is.

don't get me wrong I am not putting down you idea its just an opinion on the matter

I'm with CPH-R. The Concorde deserves to be put there. I don't think the A380 has earned that right yet.

How about we just leave it how it is?

No use changing corporate identity where it is not really necessary. The 747 has come to symbolize Airliners.net; why change it when there is really no need?

Certainly should be the A380. As a flagship website on aviation it could do with representing itself with a flagship aircraft of the future. The A380 or the A318 either could be good. But that's just my opinion.
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

When the A-380 has been around in scheduled passenger service for 30 plus years, it will then earn its place to be the airliners.net logo.

Just my opinion.

Although I am really for the A380 I would have to disagree, I think there are a lot of people out there (and on here) that say the A380 nose is ugly and would soon enough start protesting to have the new logo removed.

I would much prefer to see Concorde up there although I can't see much wrong with the current (it does start looking old though)

I also adore Airbus *lol* but the B747 is THE Queen of the Skies, she is the FIRST airplane with two floors and she is sooo damn popular, why changing it?!?

Keep the 747. The A380 has accomplished nothing yet, besides being the largest airplane,so it hasn't earned the privilege to be the logo.

KEEP THE 747!!!!

And BTW...the 747 is a beautiful aircraft...the A380 is ugly as hell.

Sure, change it to the A380. Just change it over to the 7E7 when those come off the production line.

I think the 747 has earned it's right to be at the top of this incredible website. Not to say airbus isn't far behind, but until the A380 has been around as long as the tried and true 747, and proven itself in the air over 3 decades then we might have this discussion again...

That's my opinion,

True, someone should organize a vote - fits an interactive forum. I just thought of the A380 because it will replace the B744 as the largest aircraft, and the B744 is on now so.

I think the vote should provide the choice of Concorde as well, after all SSC was around for 30 odd years too and was a superlative piece of engineering, as well as an enduring aviation legend.

I think the 747 should remain there...In fact, it revolutionized aviation by being the very first widebody passenger aircraft in aviation history and it's such an aviation icon...I'd say leave it there!

Im in total agreement with Pan Am......

Until the A380 proves itself as a major contributor to aviation and aviation history I think it should stay off the a.net logo. The 74 is an aviation icon, I don't have to go through it's history. What's the A380's history? It hasn't even flown yet.

The A380 is the future, it has a larger backlog than the B744. The B744 has proven itself, now it's time for a change and to keep the site up to date.

I would argue no; but for those arguing for that A380 because it is on the leading edge of aviation, would they support a change from the A380 to the 7e7 when it is built?

At this point the A-380 is yet to be determined as a boom or bust. Now I personally wouldn't want to see an aircraft which has no reputation and is just a rookie in the commercial Airline Business as the heading for such a fine site. Let's remember here folks the 747 has earned its place as the King of Jumbo jets. Don't dethroned it till it has truly been dethroned.

Hell no the logo should not change. The 747 is the A.net logo, it is universally recognized by airplane geeks as meaning the home of the neverending DC-9 thread. You do not see American dropping the AA in their logo just because something better comes out. You do not see United dropping the U after how many different liveries? Even NW has kept the ridiculous compass through generations.

Besides, the A.net logo should represent true quality in aviation, not a Toulouse Toilet.

I wonder why in most of the discussions in A.net people has to offend
one another? What is the reason for that?
Just because the company A is not from your country or you think the company B
is much better than the A?
Isn't there a better way to express your opinion, instead just make just a distasteful remark?
