Wright flyer - not bad. Maybe an amalgam or collage, with various aviation milestones featured - after all this is not just a Civil Aviation forum, it covers all of Aviation.

NOOO!!!!!!! Keep the 747. If they do decide to change, change it to the DC3 or Concorde. But I would love to see the lovely 727 or 757.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

See the thread about A380 to be "the King" or "the new Queen". In some 10 or 20 years, may be. Then, for sure, it will appear as our logo. But not before - just being bigger won't make it "next 747" for both enthusiasts and general public. Neither will it be a flagship - not soon, at least. I'd say, 747 is not a flagship anymore, but rather 777 or 340.

As for Concorde, forget to put it as a logo. Concorde is too special to be a logo of whatever thing - even of our forum  Smile...

I agree with the people who want the concorde to be as the logo. It really shows the progress we have made in aviation.

Ok so let me get this straight. We currently have a logo of an airplane presently flying for an existing airline.

Half the people want to change the logo to a 35?yr old design that is no longer flying.

The other half want to change it to an airplane that is nothing more than a mock-up.

No, leave the current NW 747 there. There is no reason to change it.

"35?yr old design that is no longer flying" - which does not tell everything about this "design". Apollo spacecraft is at least same old, but wouldn't you have something else to say about it? I definitely would.

"an airplane that is nothing more than a mock-up" - well, they want to put this one as a logo after it starts flying. But, as I said above, to get "out of mock-up" is way not enough to be "the next one". Even being the biggest one too.

just keep it the same...

the 747 has been a land mark aircraft of it's time.. and nothing thats radically different has ever been designed.

Well it can be changed for the A380 only if the A380, first of all, flown and has atleast an experince of 30+years being the biggest plan in the world. Other than that....I think it should always be the beloved 747 that carried both your parents and you for years.

Oh, barf. PLEASE do not change it to an A380. Personally, I think it looks like a garden slug, but even if turns out to be a great-performing aircraft, I agree with many others that it will take years for it to earn its place as the 747 has. The 747 of any series, IMHO, with that "dolphin nose" is one of the most beautiful and impressive metallic birds to ever grace the skies.

My little 2 cents worth! Big grin

Without turning this into an A v B scenario.

We have to look at the facts.

Companies alway put logos that symbolise who they are, it would be unwise to place the A380 as the lgo until it has at least flown, but like so many it is best to wait until it has proven itself.

In any case for Airliners.net to use the A380 as it's logo it would have to gain permission from Airbus, and it is easier said than done.

What we have is a strong and enduring logo and and represents positivity in the aviation industry. Like some people have said if it ain't broke don't fix it!!

My vote is no. Keep the 747, but IMO change it into Northwest's current colors. The 744 was first delivered to NW in the old red-white-blue scheme, so in that regard, I like to see the A.net logo to show its new livery. Just my two cents worth. Regards.

No!!

I want the current 747 to stay as it is! It's a great aircraft and is part of Airliners.net's whole being  Smile

Concorde would be good, but the 747 wins IMO!

My thoughts on this issue.

OK,

So the 747 is the Queen of the skies. Great logo. But, at A.net, the NWA DC-9 in the Queen of the forums. I vote for the Queen of the forums! NWA DC-9 FOREVER!! ; )

Wait!! I think that we should have 2 logos! Take the 747 and put that on the bottom and replace the top w/ the Concorde

If it's decided it's a good idea to change the logo, why don't the a.net moderators post a poll thread to get a referendum from the members from a body of airliner choices? Then, again, it might be easier if the moderators alone decide between themselves and leave us out of it. There's no shortage of opinions here so getting a reasonable consensus would be tough. However, if they simply asked if they should replace the 747 with the A380, I'd agree to that, as fond as I am of the 747, since time marches on and they might feel updating the logo with a more current large airliner would be appropriate. However, I wouldn't be against using a classic like the DC-3 or a beloved speed benchmark, the Concorde. Whatever makes the majority happiest.

I say once the A380 has 30 plus yrs of flying behind it like the 747 has, bring up the topic again.

keep the 747! for all we know, the a380 could be the edsel of the airline world

Even though the Edsel is hideous, maybe the A380 will stoop even lower and be the DeLorian of the aircraft world. Nuts Let's hope not.
