Ever Flown On The First Aircraft Delivered?

I was just wondering who has flown on an aircraft that was the first to be delivered to an airline such as the 777 first delivered to United N777UA, or to take it one step further has anyone ever flown on the very first flight on that newly delivered aircraft. Hope I didn't confuse anyone but just wondering.

I have a couple of times. Worked the newest 747-400 that we had on the 1st rev flight. I have been on both the A320 and A319 on the 1st flight. I had the chance to work NWA's very 1st A319 flight ever.

I rode on Alaska's first 737-900 a couple weeks after it was delivered, ANC-SEA after bringing in our (Hawaiian's) flight to ANC from HNL. We then deadheaded back to SEA on Alaska. That was late May or early June 2001. N302AS was the prototype, but wasn't the first delivered to AS. That was N305AS and was the one I rode on.

This summer I flew on 737-500 ES-ABF (c/n 24778) that I believe was the third B735 ever delivered to an airline and the first one for Maersk (OY-MAA).

Flown on the first SAS 737-600 two days after first rev service. The first GoodJet A320, the first A340 from SAS, MD90 for SK, A321 for Finnair, A319 for BA, 737-700 for easyJet. Think that's about it Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I had an honor to become familiar with the first MD-11 that had been delivered to Finnair in 1990 before it even started operating. The plane was in Leko-7 hangar which is the biggest building in Finland. That was a big experience for an 4-year old kid. Nuts

Actually I flew on the same plane last summer.

In April of 03 i flew MEA's brand new A321 F-ORMG after the Delivery from Toulouse on BEY-DMM. GOt to go in the cokpit too. Even the pilot was amazed with the aircraft

I flew on an Ansett New Zealand 737-100 series when they first commenced service domestically in New Zealand. Apparently this was the first 737 in commercial service and had been through several different airlines including UA, its first owner. Also heard that LH was the original owner?! Ansett NZ soon had its BA-146's and retired the aged Boeing fleet (before being retired themselves).

I quess this counts. Boeing came into LAS for some high-hot and others tests with EAs first 757 and the crew let some folks (me too) go along for some rides. This was before EA had it for revenue flights. Also Bonanza airlines let all the employees at LAS fly the first DC9 before it was in service.

yeah I remembered that I flew from SYD to LAX by a Qantas B744ER (VH-OEE) in June 2003. It was the very first aircraft (Boeing's livery) to test fly when the new B744ER was rolled out from the hangar!

I think in 1997 I joined the delivery flight of LAUDA's first B777. Cpt. Was Mr. Niki Lauda himself, route was Hamburg to Munich, ticket: 77,77DM! Memories...

Never flew on a first delivered A/C but I worked for UA in Denver when they brought the first 777 in, in 5/95. Our gate crew marshalled it in to gate 22 there on Concoarse B. We went up inside and enjoyed the very first one!

I have flown on aircrafts that was the first to be delivered to Virgin, on the A343 and A346 and KLM 738 but didnt have the honour to actually fly on any first revenue flights though Sad

....will probably have to wait for the A380 now!

I flew on this one just a few weeks after delivery in 2002. In fact it was so new they didn't know how to load the cargo properly. We left the gate at DTW and flaps were set for take-off, shortly after they were retracted. We had to return to the gate because the cargo had been improperly loaded and the airplane was out of balance. They needed to unload and reload it.

For some reason NW 753's began delivery with N782NW instead of 781. They did the same with the A330's which began with N802NW instead of 801 which I've been on.

I flew the same plane on its first revenue flight back to SEA from DTW. I think its first revenue flight was to MSP from SEA and back and then to DTW the next morning. So I guess that makes it day 2.

I've flown these: first MD-80 (OE-LDS), A321 (OE-LBA), A320 (OE-LBN) for OS; first 738 (OE-LNJ) and 733 (OE-ILF) for NG; first A320 (HB-IJA) and A310 (HB-IPA) for SR.

But that's nothing exciting at all compared to F-GFKQ, the first A320 ever delivered! I've flown her CDG-VIE on Feb 29th 1999. I wasn't excited during the flight, b/c the rego doesn't tell you it's the "first A320 of anything". I figured out I was on a special plane only when I got home and looked it up in jp.

This is an interesting question. I am a new member here, although I have been reading the posts, and viewing the photos for some time. When I was a child I accompanied my father to California as he went along to bring a brand new L-1011 to Atlanta for Delta. It was an interesting trip. The aircraft was not yet finished out on the interior. I need to talk to him about this in order to learn more about the particular date and if he has documentation as to the specific aircraft. I think I was eight years old, which would make the year 1974. For this question, I don't think it was the first aircraft delivered, but it would have been the delivery flight for that specific aircraft.

In november 4th, 1990 I had the pleasure to fly on the first DC10-30 ever built. It was KLM´s PH-DTA "Johann Sebastian Bach". The route was: Guatemala City-Curacao-Amsterdam. I still keep some pictures of the aircraft taken by me...even remember my seat number!! 25A. I don´t know why, but that´s definetly the most memorable flight I´ve ever had.

and the last plane to be repainted into US new c/s, and my mother flew on the first 752 delivered to CO.

First commercial flight of the first aircraft (of a specific type) for an airline - discounting the crew-training flights around the region prior to launch of the first commercial flight:

- Singapore Airlines' first B777-212 "Jubilee" 9V-SQA first commercial flight (to Jakarta) SQ154 on 15 May 1997

- Singapore Airlines' first A340-500 "LeaderShip" 9V-SGA first commercial flight (to Los Angeles) on 03 February 2004

Besides the aviation memorabilia associated with such an event, the buzz created by the media and marketing people is quite interesting.

I flew on VH-OEF (MEL-LAX), which was the first of the 744ER's that was actually delivered to QF. -OEF was delivered in 10/02 while -OEE was delivered in 12/02.

I flew on United's first 727 Adv., delivered in October 1977, N7251U, but I wasn't the pilot for that flight. We took delivery of close to 80 of the 222-Advanced, up to 1980, and I flew the maiden flights for several as a Captain, although I cannot recall exact registrations of all of them. I know I also flew one of the last United 741 flights, on ship N156UA, an ex-AA 747-123.
