With A Free Ticket, Where Would You Fly?

SkyTeam is having a contest to give away a "dream vacation" on its website, to any of the alliance members' 500 destinations, so I got to thinking....I'd be curious to know, if you won a free ticket to fly pretty much anywhere in the world, where would you choose to go and why? I am actually trying to find out, what would be a.net members' favorite global destination?

When I do have free tickets I use them to go to EZE.

If I could go anywhere other than EZE, it would be Windhoek, Prague, or Bucharest.

Windhoek for the dunes.

Prague for beautiful women, great music, and unbelievable architecture.

Bucharest for all the things that Prague has without all the American tourists in logo t-shirts, and its much cheaper.

All things considered, the airlines that make up SkyTeam and J/C-Class service, I am leaning towards JNB with Air France as the best I could do for South Africa as I do not think there is any direct service into CPT with SkyTeam. Otherwise, if I could, it would be direct into Cape Town.

Why? Never been before, an emerging nation and pretty darn good wine these days.

Business class on air france, 5* hotel with the worlds best viewing a few hundred meters from most hotel 's and money to spend as well.

For me, Maldives (MLE) has been a place of dreams to visit for many years. I want to stay at the Four Seasons Resort and fly on SQ A340-500. I would like to spend about seven days there.

Kiwiair727tpa: I am impressed with your decision. The Royal Mile has a couple of fine pubs and the famous whiskey store. Edinburgh is truly a beautiful city with an amazing character behind it. I went to the Tatoo when I was about 16 and still remember it today. What a blast. (No pun intended) The repelling by the British Army from the castle onto the parade square was pretty cool!

KLM11: Not sure how you will get to MLE with SQ considering the contest is SkyTeam and SQ is out of the question. But, Four Seasons is an EXCELLENT choice... You do have class, sir!

In 2003 I was lucky enough to get a free ticket on Japan Airlines so I choose to go to Singapore.
If I am lucky again in 2004, I think that I would choose to go to Sydney, Australia.

The country I most want to visit is Botswana. Do any of the airlines in question fly there? I have a painting on my living room wall, painted by a deceased friend, of the Kalahari and it is home to me in imagination. I've been pretty much everywhere else.

I got to perform in the tattoo with the 1st Bn The black Watch (Royal Highland Reg't) in 1996 and 97. and when they come to tampa i play with them on Stage. I have very close connections with the regiment and yes edi is a beutiful city, people are friendly and i cant get into trouble for playing the pipes!

Warren747sp: The conditions of the SkyTeam promotion is 2 seats in Business Class anywhere in the SkyTeam network. Along with what appears to be a rather generous "allowance" for a 5 star hotel of "OUR" choosing. Cool!

Botswana is a beautiful and make sure you get to Zambia as well. Victoria Falls is mighty impressive. The Zambezi Sun is a 6-star hotel.

OK, a bit hard to tabulate as some people listed many options or entire regions or countries, but FYI, as of Saturday evening here in NYC, the big winners are SXM, mentioned by my count about 8 times (and obviously due to the good spotting, as otherwise it's like alot of other Caribbean destinations), and SYD, mentioned at least 7 times. These are only individual places mentioned at least 5 times each, but as a general trend, Oceania is quite popular as there were several mentions of places in Aus and NZ in general, as well as PPT and such, but it has to also be observed that Southern African destinations were also well represented, as were Asian ones like SIN. The big surprise to me here is lack of popularity of North American and European destinations, but that may just reflect the fact that so many A.net members are in N.A. and Europe that they would want to visit more exotic or distant places with a free ticket. Anyway, my conclusion so far is that A.net members would like to go spotting in St. Maarten, and spotting aside (e.g. if they had to bring their wives), probably to someplace down under....

PS one of my co-workers asked me what MY choice would be here, and I would have to say DXB, but that's for personal reasons, in any event my vote would give DXB 3 mentions here....

I would probably fly to Sydney or Melbourne in Australia! I've always wanted to go and flights from CLT to either of those two cities aren't exactly cheap, so i'd definately take advantage of a free ticket and use it to go to Australia Smile
