IMisspiedmont.....if you come this way don't pass up a flight on a DC-4! They fly charters (usually with groups) to Victoria Falls, the Okavango delta and other destinations in the region.

And to the others who mentioned Cape Town....that is a dream destination in anyone's language!

After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

RE: With A Free Ticket, Where Would You Fly?

Back on Thanksgiving day in 1999, I had found a $166 web fare to a DCA-DTW-MSY-DTW-DCA round trip and decided to make apologies to family and spend the day flying in an effort to get to the next elite level. I got as far as Detroit. The DTW-MSY leg was oversold since there was some kind of bowl game going on in New Orleans. A gate agent came on the plane and asked someone to give up their seat in return for a free ticket -- no response. The second time he announced that a person with an low-status fare code (me) would have to be bounced in order to seat a full-fare client. I gave up my seat and walked off the plane. In return for cooperating with the gate, I was awarded 20,000 WorldPerks miles and a middle seat back to DCA.

I made out like a bandit -- sort of. And I made it home in time for pumpkin pie and coffee.  Smile

Sorry about that. I'm on the wrong thread.

Perhaps someone can move #54 to the correct area.

Andz, anyone who has no desire to visit southern Africa is missing quite a lot. I've had the pleasure of much of the area, but on business.

My home is in Arizona but if I had only one other area to live in, it would be yours. I love southern Africa.

Wow it's Monday and still alot of votes for Aussie, Kiwi, and Southern Africa, also SXM of course....Just curious, has anyone ever tried to organize an A.net member trip, to someplace of obvious mutual interest like SXM? Some years ago (when AA was flying DC-10s in the Caribbean) my company did some events at Mullet Bay next to SXM runway and we also looked at the Caravanserai which I think is even closer to the approach, but it wasn't for an aviation-oriented client and at the time I had no idea the hobby of spotting even existed! Wondering since so many mention SXM if a) anyone has stayed at either of these places lately and b) anyone has ever done an A.net member trip there, I mean as a group outing not individually...

If it were for the 48 contiguous states, I'd pick SAN or LAS.
If it were for all 50 states, I'd pick HNL
If it were anywhere in the world I'd pick SYD, AUK, or Japan (most any city).

high_flyr69

HEHEH  Big thumbs up Innsbruck has a lot more to offer than just the airport. Come over here.... oh sorry, you can't - because I will win the prize  Laugh out loud

If I would win I would fly INN-FCO ( air alps D0328 codeshare with Alitalia ) and then Alitalia B772 FCO-NRT. Japan must be very interesting!

I can narrow it down to five choices:
SYD
HKG
NRT
PEK
SIN
