Agreed with Trekster - I'd love to do a round-the-world trip someday. The closest I can claim is when I was I child:

At age 5, in 1965, I traveled the following:

Morristown, NJ to JFK in a Piper Cherokee
JFK - LAX - HNL aboard a United DC-8
HNL - NRT - HKG aboard ??? (I believe it was a Pan American 707)
HKG - BOM aboard ???

A year later, I traveled back to the US:

BOM - CDG via Beirut and Prague.
CDG - JFK aboard a Pan American 707.

There were several charters, using the same aircraft:

ATA L-1011:

United 747SP
Air France Concorde
Travolta's 707

(Sorry - got to go - maybe someone can find the images)

Also type in "around the world" in the photo search - some interesting stuff pops up.

In 1983, I took Pan Am around the world. I started from my home, SFO, then to Tokyo (PA-742), Singapore (PA-SP), Hong Kong(PA-742), Bangkok (Thai A300 from HK), Delhi (Thai B742 from Bangkok), Frankfurt (PA-742), and a PA-742 to SFO. It was a great trip. I really enjoyed all the cities - especially India and Japan.

Just last August I did a round the world trip when I went to India, and ended up only spending 3 days there. This was the cheapest itinerary in F class.

SEA-NRT UA 777
NRT-SIN UA 777
SIN-BLR Indian Airlines A320
BLR-DEL Indian Airlines A320
DEL-FRA LH 744
FRA-PDX LH A340
PDX-SEA UAX EMB-120
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

The O.P. was asking if anyone did it all in one hit, which I think you wouldn't find many takers on, if any!!
First thing is it would cost a Kings ransom, being mileage fares. Getting off one flight, straight onto another without stopovers negates R.T.W. fares and Apex returns, which leaves you with full mileage fares. Not nice.
Secondly, you'd have to be loopy to do it given the punishment your mind and body would take !!!!!! LOL.
Cheers.

I wish UA still had their around the world flight
I did have the joy of flying on flt UA2
on May 1 2001
IAD-LAR B747-400 N174UA
2 hour layover in LHR, just time to have a pint
LHR-DEL B747-400 N174UA
3 hour layover @ 2am local DEL time.
DEL-HKG B747-400 N174UA
3 hours in HKG, just enough time to have another pint with some friends
HKG-LAX
my trip was done, yes I never made it back to IAD, I had to visit my sister in ORD.
I never spent any time outside of the airports. I was in business class on every leg, which made the trip very very nice. I just had a few days to kill.
left May 1 back May 3.

My family did one in 2001-2002, spent 11 months away from home (and I didn't get to come with  Sad)

Their itinerary as far as I remember:
OSL-LHR-SIN
SIN-SYD
SYD-AKL
AKL-NAN-TBU
TBU-NAN
NAN-LAX
LAX-MIA
MIA-LHR-OSL

They also spent time in Bali, as well as driving around Australia and the south eastern US.
