MH Dropping LAX, Keeping 3 Flts To EWR?

Thu Feb 26, 2004 10:19 pm

After 30 Oct 04, Malaysian's LAX flights no longer appear in Amadeus ( although they still show on the MH website). They still shows keeping the 3x week 772's to EWR.

With TG cutting LAX to 4x week and the enormous paperwork and interviews required to get a US Visa it is not surprising.

A lot of flights don't show up in some CRS due to several reasons.
This might be wrong loading, no loading at all or not yet completed/confirmed/finalised schedules.

But even in PARS, the MH flights to LAX stop on the 30OCT04. But I would be sure, that MH first would do a Press Release and later would remove the flights out of the CRS.

I doubt MH would drop LAX, those flights are full to the brim.

Schedules are loaded into other airlines' CRSs at specified intervals. I would rely on what shows on MH's website than what another airline CRS shows.

I have a friend who commutes on that route about once every two months. I understood that those flights are usually very full. I flew MH on that route almost ten years ago (via TPE), so hard to believe they would leave that market.

I've flown MHs LAX flight several times. It is always jammed pack. Hard to see the reason for MAS dropping it.

I seriously doubt MH will drop LAX. They don't usually suspend/mount flights that early for winter 2004/2005. Right now, they are still busy updating their schedules for summer 2004. As far as I know, their LAX flights are doing really well with a lot of passengers transiting to India. I am still curious whether they are planning to serve SFO in the future to tap the higher yield passengers from the bay area. They would still need to expand outside Asia to cater for their expansion in Asia.
