From 1 to 5, 5 is the best

1. Cubana
2. Interflug (do you remember them?)
3. V Bird
4. Iraq Airlines and
the winner is (in this Oscar days)
5. Iran Air.

Sorry could not stop it  Smile/happy/getting dizzy, but the question is impossible to answer, just like what is the best beer of the world.

21st century travel - they invest alot in their product and their customers
Prices are good now too!

I think the world most underrated airline is the best..MEA!

Then the best in Europe is--BA, AF

The Best in Asia-MEA (Well, if you mean southeast Aisa then Cathay.)

The best in the US. Thats a hard one, I have flow all the major ones (CO,UA,AA, US,Jetblue-which was very good for a LCC) I had very bad service, Bad seats and bad IFE systems. No, well, UA did really treat me good. SO UA!!!!!!!!!!!

South America-TAM

Oceannia- Quants

Africa- SAA, Egypt Air

MEA FLYING HIGH AND RETURING TO IT FORMER GLORY!

Your old man is wise enough to know. Singapore Airlines is THE BEST carrier in the world.....closely followed by Cathay, Emirates, Virgin Atlantic and Qantas.

BIGPAPPA, I've got to disagree with you...
Have you try out any airlines in Asia? If not, you've got to catch the chance!!

I must admit that BA is good, just European wise...SORRY...

CX will get my vote...

My vote goes to LanChile (best seats and IFE system I experienced yet) and British Airways (most friendly staff).

Good point, but I have one question, how could they fly inside Singapore, with helicopters?  Wink/being sarcastic

I would have to say RyanAir and maybe Southwest. Because they are affordable (most of the time) to the masses. I heard you can fly for 10 pounds on Ryanair.......whats better than that. Well maybe a free ticket in first class.

For me, Aloha and Hawaiian.....they fly where I need to fly and have great customer service. I prefer Aloha though. For big airlines I like Delta, Southwest, United, American, and Continental in that order. -Aloha! (my enter key is still broken....grrrrrr)

My vote is for Iberia Regional Air Nostrum.

BAW the favourite airline in the world? Not in my opinion. Flown with them in european flights? Not a good chance.

hmm, this is going to be quite boring and going away from a discussion about eg. quality and route network. Now it is only statements like I am from the Netherlands, best is KLM, Spain, best Iberia, well I am from Denmark and I assure you, the best airline in the whole world, including the Moon and Mars, is SAS.
Just like saying I am from Sweden therefore the best car in the world is Volvo or..maybe SAAB.

I think that SAS is far the best airline
in the world. They've got great service,
nice and friendly F/A's. Good I/E on the
longhauls. Comfy seats in their A/C.
Most important thing of all, you feel safe
traveling with them.
The new interior and livery is just awesome.
It is Scandinavian at its best.

GO SAS!!

I've never seen so much bias in my entire life. Everyone picks their nations flag carrying carrier. Understandable. However, I am American and everyone in this forum knows the best airline is Air Zimbabwe.

An interesting note, for those of you with access to Discovery Channel. There is a documentary tracing Marco Polo's journey to Asia and it is sponsored by non other than Cathay Pacific.

Towards the end of the trailer for the program, the announcer goes something like "This program is sponsored by Cathay Pacific - The world's best airline..."

So where does this leave us?
Welcome to my starry one world alliance, a team in the sky!

Being a malaysian, it's probably a bit shocking to some that I have yet to fly with SQ. People from all 4 corners of the globe seem to have flown with them, so i think i'm way overdue. I travel almost exclusively with MH, other than short-haul european/australian/american carriers. I just want to experience SQ and see what the fuss is all about...

The best airlines in the world in MY books for service, style and safety in no particular order are:

Cathay
Singapore airlines (less safe than the others I reckon)
Qantas
British Airways
Emirates
Virgin Atlantic

There are no others that would make my list.
Maybe EVA air, but they are a boutique carrier.
Long Haul is the only way to go
