Im just interested in your thoughts. I recently flew on an AA EMB-145 (ORD-IND), and I swear the seat's had more legroom than on their 777's. Great Seat, Snack, Service, Crew, made for a great deal

I like them quite a bit; very smooth, quiet, etc.
But on segments @ or exceeding 2 hours, forget it. I must admit to getting a bit of cabin fever, more or less due to the seats. The seat bottoms aren't as cushioned as mainline in my estimation, and the lumbar support is nonexistent. THe seatback is almost concave, and it makes for some discomfort.
Overall, tremendous airplane though.

Once your sitting down it's comfortable, but standing up makes me very claustrophobic.

No, really, I love the ERJs too -- when they started replacing some of the Saab flights into ABI with ERJs, I rejoiced.
They are a bit cramped for longer flights, though. I flew on a CoEx ERJ IAH-SAV last summer, about 2 or 2 1/2 hours, and that was about all I could take.
And, from AMR's corporate web site:

ERJ-145=lawn dart. Very narrow inside; I much prefer the CRJ because that 2-1 combination is just silly. The Embraer also seemed to have a lot of difficulties at high altitudes; ITH-PIT was a problem with a full load and ITH is barely 1000 feet high with a 7000 foot long runway. But above all the Embraer 170 is the future...amazing aircraft.

I personally love the ERJs, pending that you get an "A" seat so you don't have anyone sitting next to you. The first time I flew one I was stuck next to somebody, and it felt really cramped, but on the return flight I was in an "A" seat and it felt like there was a lot of space. But all in all, I think they're great little planes.

I usually only fly them for about 1:15 hrs, more comfortable than anything else I've ever flown. My mother just flew one from AUS to CLE. She said the 3 hour flight on the ERJ was far more comfortable than the 2 hour flight on a CRJ from MEM to AUS a few days prior. I never liked the CRJ's, too cramped with the 2-2 config. The 700/900's might be better, worth a try at least.
Has anyone ever noticed that RJ cabin crews seem much more attentive and accommodating than their mainline counterparts? Maybe I've just been lucky.
I may change my favorite from the 145 family to the 170/190 family after a ride on one of those. We'll see!

I think the 145 is an excellent Jet, smooth and very quiet. Comfortable considering it is a small Jet.

I used to wonder why airlines bought the ER4 when there was the CRJ. The CRJ has stand up headroom and has decent overhead lockers.
But i was soon told the CRJ is more expensive to purchase, is it?
And also the ER4, although cramped inside, once seated, the cabin gives you the illusion of a larger plane, and the windows are large and perfectly alined.
Also, the single row of seats on the ER4 goes down a treat with pax travelling on their own.
Despite not being good with hand baggage, i feel the ERJ-145 is better than the CRJ. But none are as good as the 717.

The CRJ is $3-5 million more. Latest ERJ-140 price was $17.2M list. CRJ runs $20-22.5M list.

I've flown on Embraer's ERJ-145 with American Eagle several times and I like them. They are nicer in my opinion than the turboprops. I little cramped maybe, but no big deal as long as the flight isn't too long. Sitting on the left in the single seat is the best.

The ERJ-145 is one of my favorite planes, until now I flew twice on it (on AZ: DUS-MXP and on LX: ZRH-DUS). It is a very comfortable aircraft in my opinion, especially I like the single seats on the left site because you have a combined window and aisle seat, and you don't have to worry to end up next to an annoying seat neighbor.

Not the greatest of aircraft in the performance category. If you have a bank of 145 leaving and you get stuck behind them plan on a slow departure. They can also slow down enroute traffic since they cruise slower than the larger aircraft (to the FAA it is first come first serve). The aircraft has its usefulness but the long haul market shouldn't be one of them.

I flew Continental Express, Newark to Augusta, GA and back on the ERJ-145. I enjoyed it, I had seat 1A, which is it's own aisle. The flight attendent made it a nice time for me because I had nothing to look at, so we talked. The ERJ is very roomy otherwise.
