It's only as cramped as the carrier makes it  Smile I love Conti's 75's (well, I love pretty much any 757 for that matter). The 738 is really nothing special in my opinion. Just like flying on any other 73NG or a 2nd Generation 737. Stick with the 757. Have a great trip!

Quite honestly, the planes are almost essentially the same inside. They are both 3x3 with drop-down LCD screens. However, I believe that some of the 752s have been reconfigured with sliding Y seats; when you recline your seat the bottom moves forward as to allow space for the person behind you.

I have not been on a 738 in a while; do they have them?

Being a frequent flier on DL, I have flown on the 752 and 738 often, and I personally prefer the 757 because the 738 feels like any other 73. The 75 feels like a much larger aircraft because it sits higher and boarding is usually conducted through the L2 door. The 75 also feels like a rocket on takeoff compared to the 73.

On the other hand, I prefer the 738 over the 757 anyday.

It's all preference.

I flew both recently, and I much prefer the 757, and I hate the 757. The seats on the 738 are much narrower, and I found very uncomfortable. Also, the under seat storage sucks because instead of using the seat cushion as a float, they use a little metal box under the seat to store stuff. I'd avoid CO's 738s if I were you.

Irony of ironies...
I love the Conti 738. I found it to be a teriffic plane. Comfy. Nice seats. I haven't flown a 757 in a few years, but I remember that one as being 'fun' as a passenger.

I haven't heard anything about sliding bottom cushions. I doubt that it is true for two reasons:
1. Continental hasn't mentioned it.
2. We haven't talked about it here.

I could be wrong. Sounds like a r-u-m-o-r.

Y'all have a great weekend!

I have flown both 757-200s and 737-800s on American. They both have the same size seats, and the cabin is about the same size.

The reasons why I like the 737 are a) the 737s have have adjustable headrests (which CO doesn't have) and b) the 737 takes less time to load and unload. When both planes were MRTC, the 757 carried 42 more passengers.

SpdBrdConcorde,

From personal experience because I work for the company, the 737-800 are more comfortable than most of the 757's. The articulating bottoms seats are being placed on a limited # of 757 because Continental is in the middle of changing over the seats. So as of now only like 4 planes have been converted to that configuration and they fly international like ewr-lim or ewr-lis. So odds are you won't sit on one of those 757's yet. and as for what Ckfred said about the adjustable headrest's he's wrong because all of the 737 new gens have those kinds of seats, with adjustable headrest that slide up and down with winglets. But all in all they are both nice planes, the 757 feels more like a hot rod on take off compared to the 737 but like I said they are both nice airplanes. So enjoy your trip.

P.S. see if you can change your flight arrangements to fly on a 757 going and a 737 coming back.
