Mine is the Rolls Royce RB211-535 , especially when fitted to a late series 757, NOTHING can beat that deep powerful growl .

My username says it all. Deep Powerful Growl at Startup, Electronic whine during throttle up, Buzzsaw sound at takeoff.

PW F119... 35,000 lbs of thrust, +20/-20 degree thrust vectoring, supercruises the F22 with ease

GE90... 127,000 lbs of thrust in testings, certified at 115,000 lbs, designed for ETOPS 330

Just a subjective opinion. If power I would choose the Rolls-Royce RB211-524 pushing a 767. If smooth and silent performance I would choose the Pratt V2500 hanging in the wings of an A320

This should be a a.net poll, but mine are the RB211-524HT on the 747-400, and the cfm56 on the 737-700, and the A320

My favorites are the 717's BR715, the GE CF6, and the GE90-115B. Nothing beats more than 100,000lbst! I think that that the JT8D is pretty amazing, too; without a doubt one of the most significant jet engines of all time.

P&W JT8D-17....

You can hear it.
You can see it.
You can feel it.
You can smell it.
You can almost taste it.

Slap a pair ov JT8D-17s on a 737-200C/Adv with the fancy landing gear and the gravel kit and you've got yerself one hell of a jetliner!

I have to agree with the GE90- I think that I read somewhere that it's the same diameter as a 737 fuselage- strapped to the wing of the 777- that's huge! and so is its thrust!

I'm going for the RB211-535 on the 757 - that growl on takeoff is absolutely awesome, the sound alone makes it the best part of the flight for me!

Just for the sake of technicality, PW4100 designationss cannot be applied to 777s  Big grin

Well, I would have to say the YJ93. Their only installation is a true "six pack". Designed to cruise at Mach 3 for 5000 nm.

On the civil side the GE90-110/115, with its highly contoured fan and 42:1 compression ratio is great. Though I have a soft spot for the RB211-22B and RB211-524

For me it is the CJ805-23. All that noise and smoke packed into that little package. And a rear fan to boot.

If I may choose 2 types...
I go for the CF6-50 cause of the sound! Nothing can beat the sound of a 747 classic with 4 of those on idle crying out loud. And for the looks I choose the RB211.
The RR would be the winner of my: "Best looking engine" award. What I don't like about them is because its a pain in the ass sometimes, to just replace a friggin clamb.

I was thinking more along these lines...

Ford's Single Overhead Cam (SOHC) 427 c.i.d. It made 616bhp @ 7500 rpm with one, or 658 bhp @ 7500 rpm with two 780 cfm Holley carbs. Place this in a nicely tuned 1968 Mustang Fastback, and you've got one heck of a ride! Big grin

Have to go with the GE90-115B. Those saber-shaped fan blades are stunning, truly a work of art.

The Olympus 593 is also quite a machine.

I have to go with the General Electric CF34's. If it's go enough for the A-10 Thunderbolt and can take this:
