How Many Passport Stamps Do You Have?

Fri Mar 12, 2004 4:45 am

how many passport stamps do you have?

Countries within the EU dont seem to stamp them anymore, which i think is a shame.

It's nice looking through them, thinking of the memories!

I have a new passport, but i have stamps from Jamaica, NY, SFO and Egypt, the last one being the best since it has stamps n labels all over the place.

In my old one i had a few good stamps from Malta and Turkey. Spain and Greece don't bother as much anymore, something to do with the EU no doubt.

Still makes me laugh when i see one of the stamps from the usa and next to it it says paroled and then the date. Its like im some criminal Big grin

I know these days you have to ask for a stamp from passport control in Europe. They don't chop it like they use to.
I have a ton of stamps in my passport from all over the world. I only have 2 useable pages and 4 more years to go!

you can check out some of my stamps at

http://jmy007.tripod.com/jmy/id5.html sorry its kind of slow loading.

My favorite stanp is the one from St. Barths. It was an outline of the island in Rainbow Ink. It was issued in the outdoor hut they called the terminal.

Good times, good times.

Mexican Passport: 44 stamps + 2 visas.
Spanish Passport: 0 stamps (I only use is to get into the European Union countries)

The good thing is that if I want to get a stamp from the EU, I only show my Mexican passport and they stamp it.

A rough count throws up 216 stamps since 1998.

I run out of space every 18 months or so and have to get a new booklet added on.

Thanks for the idea to check!

Currently 176 not counting US stamps on my return. Sadly almost half are departure stamps. Most were possible because I go through Australia on business on a RTW ticket, opening up a lot of fantastic places to visit in Asia and Europe. Still have 7 pages open on the insert and another year to fill them before a new passport. Will start working on that in 3 weeks.

I don't believe Canada stamps anymore. I have almost 200 unique stamps. We go on a lot of vacations and business. A Majority would be WAW and my return to TPA.

I have 5 Canadian stamps from 2004 already, and another 8 from 2003 so I assure you that they very much do stamp on request!

FYI, just because a place doesn't stamp generally doesn't mean you can't ask for one. I have done this on occasion when arriving in foreign countries for the first time, and I don't think this is uncommon--no immigration officer has ever refused or even given me a strange look upon hearing my request (just don't do this if the officer seems particularly grumpy or surly).

One interesting note: for most of my life, the U.S. rarely bothered stamping at all, at least not for U.S. citizens arriving in NY. However, since 9/11, they seem to stamp every time without fail, so I am rapidly filling up my passport with lots of boring JFK/EWR stamps.

no immigration officer has ever refused

I got into a very nasty confrontation with LHR T3 immigration on this issue a few months ago, but came away empty handed. They have declined to stamp my passport the last 5 trips there...

I know with with larger airports, such as LAX and JFK, you have to ask for a stamp for a US passport. Smaller place do it with out asking. And even in the bigger airports, no officer seemed bothered by stamping it on request.

I have none...

I used to use my Passport as my ID when I went out clubbing...

Unfortunately, it became the unfortunate victim of being left in the pants when it was washed.

The first time, it came back okay. The second time - only the cover came back.

You heard it here first - Australian Passports are good for one machine wash, with the second causing death.  Smile

My old passport, that has just expired, was totally full - no more space for any more stamps or visas. Some of the stars were Moscow, Beijing, Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo, Sydney, Auckland, Singapore (many times), Bangkok, Bogota, Lima, La Paz, Quito, Dubai, Bahrain, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Victoria Falls, Harare, Gander, Dublin (US immigration!), and many US gateways including LAX, SFO, MIA, MCO, MSP, IAD, ORD, etc...

My new passport gets its first stamp - Algiers - tomorrow!

Moving to Dubai was my first time using my passport, and I had a few stamps from LHR and DOH for my visa runs, plus all of my exits and entries into the UAE.

My wife on the other hand, has me exponentially beat. She lived in Dubai and had to stay there on visit visas for six years. Every 59 days she had to go to Mumbai or Kish Island on the dreaded Kish Air (she's been on that Fokker 50 that crashed last month). She currently has three passports stapled together, two of which are full, the third one is nearly full. The first passport was issued in 1999. It's amazing how much she's travelled. She had four more before these, they were all full!

If only she had those frequent flyer miles!  Big thumbs up

Simply too many to count.
I have 3 previous U.S. passport all filled with pages added twice to each one and I often request that immigration officer do not stamp my passport whenever possible. It was easier with INS PASS but now they do not encourage its' use anymore.
I also use another foreign passport sometimes to leave space for the US passport.

Have too many to count. One of my favorites is from Moscow, Russia. As previously mentioned, many countries no longer stamp your passport unless you ask them too. Otherwise, I'd have a whole lot more in my passport!

I really wish the EU start stamping our passports (especially at land border crossings) again. I've travelled to about 15 european countries but the number of stamps that I got did not do justice to the number of places that I've been to.

airport stamps:

KUL
LHR
STN
LTN
HAM
GVA
ZRH
MAD
ATH
GIB (Gibraltar)
TRS (Trieste)
TSF (Venice Treviso)

ferry / land crossing stamps:

Bari
Algeciras
Republika Hrvatska (Croatia/Slovenia border)

Stamps:

Bermuda
Canada
Iceland
Netherlands Antilles
Poland (2)
USA (2)

Declined to stamp:

Canada (2)
England
UK
USA (3)

As an aside, I have a beautiful passport holder in red leather and sterling silver from Asprey. It's a very luxury item, but it looks beautiful (it looks like a bright red passport.)

It comes in Light Blue, Orange, Pink, Black and Brown, I believe. Awesome to have.

Old one had Heathrow, Czech rep., Poland (in and out by car), US(MCO). It was nice but I mainly travel in Europe, and Iceland being a member of Schengen you really have to whine to get stamps in those countries. New one only has Egypt, but that's a good start for the next 6 years. Egypt is by far the best with two paper stamps, handwriting and entry and departure stamp.
