I'm currently in The UK, I flew over on AA 132 on Friday night from JFK to LHR.
I had my notepad in hand, ready to get the aircraft reg info.
I remembered that part of the number would be on the nose gear(got it). 7BT
Then I remembered that there may be a few more letters in front, which I think i read on here would be above the ac door as u entered(not there).
SO i figured I would sweetly ask the lead Flight Attendant to get the info for me from the Cockpit crew, since she had NO idea what i was asking.
She even went so far as to ask why would I would need that info.
Explained to her I belonged to an enthusiast community. A.net and it was just a hobby. She promised to get it.
I thought i would write a trip report, but I probably won't now, lets just say the seating was the only aspect of the AA 777 experience I appreciated(i'm 6ft 2ins)
BA and UA have them beat(my opinion), service wise.
This bird shook and rattled something awful on take off roll... oh that's right I wasnt doing a trip report, wrong forum anyway.
As I was leaving the FA did mouth the reg number to me , but all she said was what was written on the nose gear.
My quesion to my fellow A.net members is that the ENTIRE registration number for that bird?

Can you explain how all that works, it seems now that each airline has a different method.
The 7BT doesnt even appear in the reg you provided!!!
I noticed on the Virgin aircraft I saw on the ground at LHR that their regs are actually on the hind quarters of the aircraft

Hehe.. the only way I found it was through a search for 7BT in the database.
Could be wrong (I usualy am:D ) but putting the fleet numbers on the gear doors seems to be mainly a North American thing, while other airlines put the reg or parts of the reg there. Seems to be an individual choice. Maybe someone else can cast a light on this. Otherwise you can find regs or partial reg in a variety of different places... it all depends.
