Oh wow, I think someone would need to be "Karnac the magnificent" to be able to answer that one! The planes are usually different every day even though it's the same flight number. You most likely wouldn't know until it pulls up to the gate.

My quest last week was to find out if my Southwest flights were in Old colors/New colors, Winglets? New interior or old, etc??? Turns out my 737-700 flight was old color scheme and old interior (no winglets) and my return on a 737-300 was Old color/new interior and it had winglets.

Your 737-300 had winglets? Hmmm.... methinks you're mistaken.

I saw the new UA paint scheme in BOI last Wednesday. I like it. I don't love it. Then in SEA I FINALLY got to see our Disney plane on the same trip. I was starting to get upset that I had not seen it once during my previous travels.

It's possible I was mistaken but the schedule showed a 733 for that flight and it sure looked like a 733 to me. Assuming the 733's are a bit older than the 700, it makes sense that WN would convert them first. Maybe someone could give a definitive answer on which WN planes are getting winglets?

I have never heard of a 737-300 with winglets and as far as I know Southwest is only having the -700s fitted with them.

At Delta, the tail #'s for each A/C rotation are only slotted 3 days in advance, and even that is subject to change....

It is now possible to outfit the 'classic' 737-300s in winglets. If you subscribe to Airways magazine, there is an add for it from Boeing on the back cover of the September 2003 issue.

It is possible for a 737-300 to have winglets, however it is impossible for a Southwest 737-300 to have winglets. They are only outfitting the -700s with the blended winglets. If it had winglets and it was flying for Southwest, then it was a -700.

KBUF737...I can check for you when I get back to work on Saturday, though the routing will most likely change several times between Saturday and April 3. I'll keep an eye on it for you.

Air Plus Comet , I believe, are the only airline to have 737-300s with winglets.

I saw UA'S new colors last week at SLC.
Amazing, it is, that a company so far in debt
and in the throngs of bankruptcy can spend millions
re-painting the fleet.
Speaking of re-painting, this same broke and bankrupt
airline can take a bunch of A320's and paint the word
'TED' down the side and all of the sudden another low-fare
airline is born.
Is this proper and right business practice or am I
confused (again).

They gotta repaint the planes anyways. The white top 737s from the Shuttle days have not recieved new paint in 9 years! The paint was failing, corroding, and not able to protect the plane from the elements, which actually increases their maintence costs. With TED, United has to do what they have to do in order to compete and survive. United spent less than 100k on the launch of Ted. Slapping some paint on the airplane and changing the seating configuration are additional costs, but its expences that have to be made in order to make money. United can break even on a Ted flight a lot sooner than they can on a mainline flight.

You are confused. This is proper business practice. It takes money to make money. The judge is also approving this, and lenders are lending United money. I wouldnt worry about them repainting planes. BTW: IIRC the new livery was conceved years ago during their rebranding in the late nineties, but it was placed on hiatus due to the state of the company at the time.

ILUV767, I agree with your post. But from what I know the new livery was just recently designed (although the "United" type was done back in the 1990s). If the livery had been designed back then it would have been used...United had record profits between 1995-2000, so the "state of the company" would not have prevented a new livery from being introduced. Problems didn't arise until after the US Airways merger was announced in 2000.
