7E7 Commericals

Sat Apr 03, 2004 2:02 pm

Why is Boeing putting out all of these TV commercials about the 7E7, as if the average television viewer could afford to buy one???

And are they really going to call it the 7E7, or are they going to rename it the 787?

They get the passenger hyped about it, and the Boeing name, therefore looking for Boeing planes while flying. Simple marketing.

This commercial? http://video.boeing.com:8080/ram/events/greatidea2.ram
Yes, investors mainly. I'd also think Boeing want people to get excited, therefore remember the 'Dreamliner' and 'Boeing' name.

Just saw one actually....Boeing commercials always rock! I do think it's for word association...airliner...Boeing...'hey, when's that dreamliner thing comin out?'. I believe I saw it on FoxNews.

I too vote 787!

Does anybody know what this a/c will look like? Like a 777 only longer? Single deck or with Stretched Upper Deck? Just wondering. Couldn't really tell from the commercial.

I havent seen the 7E7 commercial yet. I would like to see Boeing keep the name as the 7E7 instead of the 787.

Agreed with Delta767300ER. 787 is a little too close to A380 for my liking.  Big grin

I have seen the 7E7 commercials on CNBC in the morning when the market is running. The 7E7 probably will become the 787...I hope.

I too saw it. It was on ESPN or ESPN2, whoever was covering the NIT championship game. I was pretty shocked to see it...especially on that channel.

Yes, I was screaming, because nobody was answering Post #4. If you read the posts after that, you'll see why I wanted to literally scream!

Boeing is creating a media buzz about the 7E7, plus, you never know who is watching the commercials.

Let me just add that Boeing has A LOT of "7E7 Dreamliner" ads in Germanys most popular aviation magazine and in other magzines, too.
I'm wondering why they advertise it so much under the 7E7 name if they'll change the name later on anyway. It's impressive to see how early they start advertising their new product in public. Maybe they just wanna see what the public opinion on such a superior product is. Also, it's just pure media presence to help maintain their respected image against growing Airbus competition I'm guessing.

I think they should name it the 808...it is supposed to be a new generation of aircraft and therefore should start with a new number system. I know it sounds weird hearing the "808" but i think people would get used to it.
The next generation of aircraft is just around the corner!

I'm surprised to hear about so many 7E7 ads in the U.S., Europe. I don't recall seeing them in Hong Kong on CNN or BBCWorld. Perhaps they are not very hopeful in this market for the airframe, or they are waiting until the longer range version is better defined.

Anyone in SG or Japan seeing the ads often?
