DL 777 On 1hr Flight

Wed Apr 07, 2004 2:09 pm

Hello friends,
Have been browsing for airfare to Orlando, and just came across DL using 777 from Atlanta to Orlando. Is this real? I would book it just for the a/c, but is orbitz accurate in displaying the type of a/c. Please let me know.

Thanks

It most certainly is real - I flew that flight myself this last sunday!  Smile

It was kind of neat to experience it on such short flight, IFE and all. The 777 was nice and quiet. (This was my first 777 experience)

But I have to say that I was not that impressed with Delta's interior. Business class didn't look any special for an intercontinental configuration. And the landing in ATL was *very* rough (right landing gear hitting first) - one of the storage bins near above me opened up...

Flights 62/112 daily

When I flew ATL-MCO in October last year on N865DA it was on flight 63 not 62. However, it was a very nice flight though.  Smile

DAL is doing the 3-3-3 configuration on many of the 777's now.

This must suck.

Does Delta use only two of their 777s on the NRT route regularly? Do the same two go every time? Or do they alternate? Also, does Delta have different seating arrangements on their Pacific flights than their Atlantic flights on the 777? One last remark. It's funny how Delta has always used big jets on the ATL-MCO route. First the L-1011 and the 767, now the 777. Weird, huh? For the 763D's it makes sense, but for the -ERs? A little too small, if you ask me. But hey, you can transport a lot of people in a short distance like that, and there is probably high demand on the route. That has to be why Delta uses their giants on the routes.

They also use the legs as Training Flights. I like the plane and you can feel the power.  Big thumbs up

Continental also used 767-200's and 767-400's on the IAH-MCO routs. Mostly back to the 757's and the 757-300's seating 12/210.

All of DL's 772ERs are capable of operating the route, but only three of them can legally operate it at this point.

But hey, you can transport a lot of people in a short distance like that, and there is probably high demand on the route.

The primary function of that route is to turn-around heavies between intercontinental runs, or to break in new aircraft.

The 764ERs do however operate the run solely based on capacity demands

DL will ocassionally run the 777 on ATL-TPA-ATL depending on time of year. I like the a/c, but not a fan of 3x3x3 seating. I like the 2x5x2 much better. I've noticed it really doesn't use much runway. Big grin
Cheers!

DL also used the MD11 on ATL-MCO-ATL...what a huge aircraft that was! I wonder if usage of the large a/c also indicates a lot of passengers and time slot limitations either into/out of ATL or into/out of MCO?

With DL from ATL to just about any major Florida market, it's a "No Brainer". FLL, MIA and TPA fill those planes due to the cruise ships alone, let alone regular tourists. MCO because of our Big Eared Friend and even JAX and PBI. Now, even RSW takes the 767's. Big grin

Back in July 2000, I flew a DL 777 (N866DA) MCO-ATL. I got upgraded to Business Elite and noticed the takeoff roll out of MCO was very short. It was an awesome flight...too bad it was so short!

I have flown the ATL-MCo route on a MD-11 also. It was awesome.
