UA 744 At HNL, Where Was It Going?

Mon Apr 19, 2004 5:13 am

Need some help folks...I saw a UA 744 departing HNL today. At around 0845 is was climbing over the financial district. Looked like it was heading to the West Coast. SFO I bet because I know that is the first UA flight out of the day from HNL. Anybody know why it was a 744 if indeed that is where it was headed to? Also, as this is not the regular a/c for this flight/route, why the change? I have seen this twice now in the past few months. Will this be a regular a/c?

Any info would be great.

Thanks

Could be an upgrade with more traffic, or a charter from HIK.

Not too sure myself though, that's my guess.

Je89,

I never thought of a charter from HIK. That would make sense. I was actually on my way out to HNL at the time and saw two UA's (767/777?) at thier gates at the DH concourse. I would love have an opportunity to fly a 744 to the Coast though sometime....

thanks for the info Usairways! I found the outbound to SFO on flightview.com . Wow, looks like I'm gonna have to take a trip to SFO and try to be lucky to get the 744.

It is not extremely rare to see a UA B744 at HNL (after they suspended the HNL-Japan routes with a B744), I have seen them a few times. Hopefully if the Japan traffic picks up, we'll see them more often again!  Smile
