I have only been on the -400. It is my favorite, but I would love to go on a 200 and try out those curly stairs!

The -400, because it took a great design and made it proud.

I like the -200 series because it has that feel like your back in the day and not so modernized like the -400. I also love the curvy stairs to the upperdeck on the -200.

I like the -400,because it is the one that has the most in service. I also like the winglets;makes it look high-tech.

I have always wanted to travel on a -100 but it doesn't look like that will ever happen. I have been on -200 and -400 series and I like the 400's the most.
Are any airlines are flying -100 series for passenger service?

I have to go with as a pax 747-400 but just watching or even flying on FS04 747-200. It such a great plane. I always know when that IB 747-200 comes over my house since it is the loudest of them all. Just a note the time it is in Miami right now is 7:47pm

I've been on all 747 models except the SP. Unless you count the -200SUD as a separate model.

100: Air Canada, BA
200: BA
200 combi: Air Canada
300: Varig
400: Varig, BA
400 combi: Air Canada

Most memorable, Kai Tak IGS approach in an Air Canada -433 Combi. As for favourites, I love 'em all!

I've flown all the models except the -300 series. I don't care a bit which one I'm on as long as it's a 747. That's the plane my generation grew around - a truly wonderful aircraft with incredible versatility. And lots of good memories!!

I have been on the 747-100,-200, and -400. I like them all but I like -400
the most because of the glass cockpit.

Some NW 747-200's have straight stairs to the upper deck, I believe they came from Braniff. I like the big upper deck of the 747-400, but I think NWA did an impressive job of redoing the 747-200 interiors, especially the upper deck. It is bright, spotless, and doesn't feel small at all.

I would go for the SP, although sadly I haven´t been able to fly it and I guess the chances that I will are getting worse by the day. Does any airline operate it anymore on scheduled service? It´s wing looks huge because of that short body and in my mind it holds a somewhat legendary status as it started non-stop USA-Australia flights (correct me if I am wrong). Simply a beaty in PanAm colors!

747-200 SAS
747-200 Northwest
747-200 British Airways

747-300 Cathay

My fav is the -100. Why? Cuz back at the time it was new, it really was NEW! A real progress in aircraft manufacturing.

I like the -400 version the most. It's so recognizable - I love the winglets on the end of the wings.

The 747 is an all around great airplane, has the versatility for just about anything. It's really a great plane to travel in. Has plenty of power and speed. I like the classic lines of the -200. I've flown on a Pan Am -200 and JAL -200, 3 windows on the upper deck, very early model -200, a SIA -400, Virgin -400 and AF -400. All of the flights were fantastic. I'm sure they'll be flying for quite some time. I do wish growing up I had a chance to fly on a Braniff 747 or any 747SP. Never did get on a -300 either.

I prefer to fly on the -400 because it is the newest and most comfortable model of the 747 but I also like the SP, last year I flew to South Africa just to get a flight on the SP before it disappeared completely.

I have to say the 100, 200, because they have and very robust engines. No matter if they are PW jt9 at take off or landing, RR rb 211 starting up or GE just taxi they all sound great. They also have that classic Pan Am look to them.

I would definitely say the 747SP. I like the unproportionality of the plane as this property makes it much more interesting in my opinion. Now to answer Fido73's question about the operators of the 747SP. Iran Air operates four 747SP-86s (EP-IAA, IAB, IAC and IAD). These are operated mainly on the Tehran-London route but are occasionally seen at Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Syrian Air operates two 747SP-94s (YK-AHA, AHB). They also operate the Damascus-London route on the same days, or at least on Sunday. It was strange seeing two SPs at the same time when I was in London a few months ago.

Kinshasa Airways of Congo also operates one 747SP-09 (9Q-CWY). This aircraft is currently stored at Sharjah. It is being restored so we can expect to see it operating scheduled services again in the near future! Smile

Hope this helps and long live the SP!! Smile Smile

I have had the priviledge to fly the following:

747-100: AC, CP
747-200: Wardair, AC BA NX KL AF CP
747-300: KL
747-400: KL AF AC

My favorite of all is Air Canada 747-100 version; 2-4-3 layout, flight attendants wearing coulored mini skirts.

also like the B747SP, but have never flown it...looks pretty cool though

I have only been on the 742 and 744, all with Virgin. Overall I preferred the 744! It was comfortable, and the 2-4-2 config from rows 61-65 (VS) is great!

I also loved the Union Jack Winglets on the VS Birds Big grin

I've flown the following:

747-100 - British

747-200 - Quantas
Alitalia

747-300 - Swiss Air
Quantas

747-400 - Cathay Pacific

747-SP - Pan Am (my first 747)
Quantas

The -400 is by far my favorite, but the -SP runs a close second.

I have to vote for the -100 as it is a true classic and paved the way for modern (mass-) air travel.

My first long haul flight ever was on a 747-100, and I've been on

747-100 (AF)
747-200 (AF)
747-400 (CX, UA, BA, AC, LH)

Unfortunately, 747's are getting rare over the atlantic, I think all of my most recent transatlantic flights (during the last 2 years or so) were either on LH's A340's or UA's 777....

I love the 747-200 and the 400 Series. I have flown on LH for all of my 747 flights except for United Airlines. I flew one 747-200 on UA and 1 -400 on UA and like 5 -400's with Lufthansa Airlines.

I kind of like the B747-200 fitted with RR engines...

But the winner for me is the B747-400ER with G.E's.

You can't beat the 744ER

Definitely the 747SP (Pan Am)! A unique look plus all the qualities of a 747 without the crowds! PA used to have a very small Economy section on theirs (only in the last section between doors 3 and 4) with 86 seats and a very large Clipper (Business) Class section between doors 2 and 3 with over 100 seats. First Class was in two sections between the nose and door 1 and between doors 1 and 2.
