Your Longest International Flight Ever

Fri May 07, 2004 4:24 pm

I guess the Australians travelling abroard will win this thread hands down, we are so far away.

My longest sector is SYD - LHR - NAP, yes I flew BA to London and then got a connecting flight to NAP (yes going backwards I know) but I always wanted to fly BA and this was my best option.

I like flying and do not care how many hours I spend in the air. This whole flight from Sydney to Naples (Italy) via LHR took me 32 hours......

As an aviation enthusiast you would love this!

Hmm....
my longest intn'l. flight would be Sfo-ORD-LHR-HKG-SIN-AKL.

I knew I had shorter options.... but can't help it since I love flying.

HEL-LHR-LAX has been my longest flight so far. I felt return trip longer as my skin was burned because of the hot Californian sun Angry

Hi!

My longest international flight was:

Date: 2002/12/16
Airline: SWISS
Flight: ZRH-LAX
Aircraft: MD11
Registration: HB-IWM "Liskaam"
Duration of the flight: 12:45 minutes

From that flight on my relation with the MD11 was no longer the same, I started to be a fan of this great trijet!!!

Last year I flew

GOT-AMS-SIN-DPS-BNE-A K L with KL GOT-AMS and GA the rest. I took almost 42 hours including a 9 hour stop in SIN. The A/C:s were 737-400/B747-400/A330-300.

Nothing Remarkable.
10 hours SVO-JFK on SU or 10 hours VIE-IAD on OS.
-Mr. X
PS: That's non-stop I've done KBP-AMS-IAD-BTV; that would probably be longest all-in with connections.
What now?

This past Jan my wife & myself flew ORD-LHR-BKK-SYD-CNS.

It was a fabulous experience as we flew BA F the whole way, with having to switch to QF J (only 2 class planes) from SYD-CNS.

On the way back we flew AKL-SYD-SIN-LHR-ORD, also in BA F (from SYD).

One of the best times in our lives!

My longest non-stop was part of that trip, HKG-CDG, clocking in at 12h50min.

Let me see, I have flown twice from Des Moines to Singapore. The most recent time was on UA: DSM-ORD-HKG-SIN. The first time was on NW and SQ: DSM-MSP-SFO-HKG-SIN. Not sure if changing airlines is what they were looking for or not though.

My longest nonstop flight was on UA from ORD to HKG.

I don't remember which was longer, so I'll put both

Alitalia MD-11 and A300: SCL-EZE-FCO-LHR

KLM 747-400 and Fokker 70: SCL-EZE-AMS-LYS

I think both lasted more than 20 hours, thanks to connecting time in Fiumicino and Schiphol

A week from Monday I will be going on my first international flight and it will be one of the longest ones out there. I'll be flying from ORD-LAX and then from LAX-AKL non-stop on Air New Zealand. I'm really excited about this trip (it will be my first flight on a 747 as well), but I know that flight is going to be loooong (the LAX-AKL leg will be 12-13 hours non-stop). Plus I'm really excited to see the beautiful country of New Zealand and then to go on to Australia as well!

For me, my longest non-stop flight was LAX-SIN on SQ 019...18:02 hours in the air! But truthfully, with SQ's A345, it really was not bad at all, and time flew by pretty well...other flights that have been way shorter have been way harder to cope with...I would defintley fly the direct LAX flights again!

My longest ever flight routing was LAX-TPE-SIN-AB) (MNL / RPLL), Philippines">MNL routing...about 30 hours long...that was tiring!

Honorable mentions: AB) (MNL / RPLL), Philippines">MNL-HKG-LHR, BKK-SYD-AKL-NAD, CPT-JNB-SIN-AB) (MNL / RPLL), Philippines">MNL, CDG-LAX-PPT, SIN-DXB-IST-NBO and finally AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA-LHR-GRU-SCL

My longest flight was also my most unforgettable.

It was 1998 and at the time I was working for Menzies/Ogden in Aruba-AUA (Dutch Caribbean) as an outsourced agent for KLM. The new airport Chek Lap Kok in Hong Kong was about to open in a few weeks and over 100 employees of Menzies station around the world traveled to Hong Kong to assist the Menzies agents over there.
We of Aruba went to assist the outsourced KLM/Northwest agents.

We flew into Kai Tak and left six weeks after from Chek Lap Kok. I flew KLM all the way. Aruba-Amsterdam was a ten hour flight. Six hours in transit at Schiphol and then AMS-HKG for 12 hours - a total of 28 hours traveling.
The six hours in AMS were cool, because we got a tour throughout the whole airport by Menzies over there.
On the return trip we overnighted in AMS and continued home the following day.

It was tiring, but great!

Nonstop, it would have to be SFO-SYD (14 hours)

With connections, a close call.

Either SYD-AKL-LAX-SMF or SMF-LAX-AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA-NAP.

This summer, I'll be doing

SFO-YYZ-MUC-NAP

and

NAP-MUC-AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA-LAX-SFO

Gotta love those Star Alliance award tickets!

My longest non-stop is ATL-ICN at 14.5 hours on KE.

My longest one way trip was ATL-SFO-TPE-CGK-PLM at about 41 hours on DL/BR/GA. I had 6 hours in SFO and about 5 hours in CGK waiting on flights. I have a longer trip time from ATL-PLM but I do not really count it because I stayed overnight in ICN and CGK because of no same day connecting flights.

Cheers!

My longest international nonstop was in Oct. 2000, DFW-KIX on an AA 777. It was about 14-15 hours but the hangover made it feel like an eternity.

My longest overall international trip was MSN-ORD-AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA-JNB-CPT and v v on United Express and LH, May 2003. Insane jet lag but a lot of fun.

Hangover really sucks on longhaul flights, doesn't it?  Smile I had a flight from hell on SK from EWR to ARN after a night at the Webster Hall....
