Fri May 14, 2004 3:01 am

Hi ppl;

Does anyone know what aircraft type is operated on these flights? All it says is CRJ however I would like to know the model. Is it all coach class?

HP's newest routes to Canada from Los Angeles (YVR & YEG) will be operated by Canadair "stretch" regional jets.

Either by CRJ700's (6 First/58 Coach) or CRJ900's (6 First/74 Coach).

Flights are actually operated by America West Express.

Thanks for the info. I counted the seats on the seat map and it's the CRJ900. What is odd is that I booked seat 2F however I paid for coach. I wonder what is going on.

From what I understand, First Class has been or is being removed from the RJ's. However, I actually flew first class on an RJ between SAT-PHX in late March so I'm not exactly sure the rate at which it is being removed.

The flights will be operated with CR9s. The last Mesa CR7s left the fleet to go over to UA at the end of March.

New CR9s being delivered to Mesa do not have FC and FC will be removed from all existing ones by the middle of the summer.

Hey there-
America West Express no longer operates the Crj-700, they have all been sent to operate for United express. It will be a Crj-900. Regarding the first class- it all depends which a/c you get, Mesa is in the process of converting all of their 900's into an all Y class configuration. I believe a/c 902, 903, and 917-920 are all coach class. As for 904-916, I'm not totally sure what configuration they are in, I haven't really checked them lately. Also if you do happen to get a 900 that has first class still in it, I believe that you just get first class by luck of the draw, the way I understand the new booking procedure is that you cannot book first class, you just get it if you are lucky enough to be seated in rows 1 or 2.
Hope that helps a little

P.S.-NWA757300-correct me if I'm wrong.

No, you're not wrong...although by the time the flight rolls around it may be all coach, so its all luck really. That service starts in june so I don't know much about it...except that mesa (and maybe HP) will start "hub" type service out of LAX. As of right now you have to connect through PHX or LAS to get to any destination from LAX.

Wrong, you can currently fly to JFK and BOS non stop from LAX on HP.

How do you imagine these new routes will do for HP? I could not imagine spending 3 + hours on an RJ... Am I the only one?

A majority of the CR9's are already in all coach. There's maybe 4 or 5 that are still dual class. All the Freedom aircraft are still in all F and they are still selling F class on these flights. YV flights whether the plane has F class or not, are sold as coach only. If you get lucky enough to sit up there, all you get is a bigger seat...no free drinks!

Lots of people have complained about being on the CRJ for a 3 hour flight. I've only flown on the CR9 and CR7 for a short flight but it is MUCH roomier than the 200 series. It is a long time to be on an airplane that size, but honestly I don't think it would bother me that much.

I haven't checked the loads much on the new international routes from LAX...a few days I checked the PVR and MZT flights and they were already half full...some more than half. I think it will do fairly well...I don't know what the break even factor is. The loads were the heaviest on the weekend, no surprise there!

I would have rather booked the Alaska flight at the same time. Sorry America West, but the service and planes are better with Alaska.

Well unfortunately these flights aren't operated by HP anyway  Sad

I rechecked the loads and the LAX to PVR/MZT flights are doing very well, every one I checked was at least half full. The YVR/YEG flights are still very light, only about 10-15 pax booked so far.
