In the past 3 days, every airline jumped thier prices for fares. DL was like $390 or so 3 days ago and now they are $470 all because of fuel charges.

I was probably lucky to get a Continental round-trip (EWR to SEA) for $357. yesterday. I could've gotten a Northwest one for $325 but it wasn't non-stop, which I much prefer. Too bad (NOT!) I missed a chance to fly one of their antique DC-9s. Big grin

I'll bring several cameras since it's likely to be the only time I get out there, seeing how little I get around. The term, 'Frequent Flyer' doesn't apply to me, unfortunately.

This didn't occur to me before, Steve and Vik, but is there any possiblity it'll cause you a problem with the tours if the group gets too big? With all of the interest I see in this, I wonder if those facilities have a cutoff point for the number of people in a group. Might we have to split up into more than one group and if so, what does that do to scheduling the tours? I may be worried about nothing but it seems the response is greater than you might have anticipated when you extended the invitation. A big group is great for us, expensewise, but will the Boeing centers allow that many together? Just wondering and hoping it all comes together without any hitches. Alright guys I've formally started the shirt logo contest under a separate thread. It is now open to all a.net members, regardless of if they are going to make this trip or not.
It appears that it is going to be the SEATAC Ramada Inn after all, Vik will be making the reservations for everyone and will send out a distribution for this tommorrow.
BTW, for those of you who are coming, I'm flying into SEA on Frontier 811 on the 28th. Anyone else booked on this flight?

Just my $.02, for those airline employees heading up to this event,if hotels are an issue,you may want to look into ID90 discounts in the SEA area. There are some good deals going on right now.

The core (main) tours will be taking place over two days, June 29th and 30th. So you COULD come and leave in one day, but you'd be missing a lot.

I think the best way to do it would be come in on the 28th and could leave as early as the evening of the 30th.

Anyway, let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Priceline offers some really low fares around Sea-Tac, usually the Doubletree for under $40. So, if you're a NR and $ is tight, that might help you out. Enjoy your trip guys.

HOTEL CONFIRMED
We are staying at the Ramada Inn at Sea-Tac Airport. All of those who have sent me confirmed e mails about coming to this meet will be sent individual e mails letting them know who they are sharing the room with if they have opted to do so. Please respond to the e mail as soon as possible with your flight details so I can make necessary arrangements for transport to avoid leaving anyone behind. You will not be able to call and get the special rate on your own

TEAGUE DISPLAY CENTER TOUR: IMPORTANT CHANGES
We have been told by BOEING that the maximum number of people that we can have for that tour is 20. THERE WILL BE NO SECOND GROUP. I am currently bordering on 20 confimed people, and the priority is as follows.
1) People who have sent me confirmed air bookings.
2) In-town people who have already confirmed (you better not no show, if I am going to deny any more)
3) Any out of town people who have confirmed with me via email but have not sent in their air bookings yet (Deadline to send in air booking details is Thursday May 27, 2004 5pm Eastern)
4) Any other people who want to join if there is space left over.

I think many of us going could be considered 'geeks' but that's in a good way. I'm certainly something of a geek, considering my collection of aircraft models, books and other paraphernalia. Surely, a visit to the Boeing Store could conceivably bankrupt me if I don't put a cap on spending. Then again, I'm traveling as light as possible and won't be able to bring much back, may have to have stuff shipped home if I get carried away. Not a good year for me to be doing that but this chance will likely never come again for me, better make the most of it. Too bad Boeing has no tour of the Renton site, as well, that too would make a great stop. Glad I put in extra time for Seattle and its' surroundings, this city has always appeared pristinely beautiful in every photo and film I've seen of it. Really looking forward to that, as well. This trip's a winner! Big thumbs up

ok guys...Back home in Georgia if we say we resemble a remark or we represent that statement, it is a smart-aleck way of agreeing with someone in a purely goodnatured way. What my response meant was "I'll be right beside you ogling the stuff that is all the more special because it came from the Boeing Store AT THE FACTORY!"

If you read some of my other posts you would see that I referred to myself as an aviation geek, and my suggestion for the t-shirts for the trip said 'A.nets SeattleMeet 2004..Airplane Geeks in Paradise'. I would not have suggested this if I did not proudly identify myself as one. Anyone sensitive to this term as a perjorative, I am profoundly sorry...I probably won't change my way of speaking, but I am sorry.

I too am looking forward to this trip and meeting all of my fellow airliner geeks, and my wife already explained to me the penalty for overspending at the store. She says I already spend too much on comic books, airplane models, and trips to Farnborough and other aviation related locales. I guess I am a geek extraordinaire! Big grin

BREAKING NEWS!

OK guys, it took a little bit of work to find the right contact and to get everything all worked out, but I am on the verge of confirming a tour of Renton for us, where the venerable 737 is assembled. (Unfortunately the last 757 has entered production and so they're starting to wind that line down. No tour of the 757 line for us Sad

) But hey, all those 737s you've flown in your life, you get to see where they were born! This is a tour that even I haven't taken, and I work like 1/4 mile from there!

Just one more memorable accomplishment to add to this already stellar line-up of Boeing greatness! WOOT! Big thumbs up

Oh, and just as a sidenote, here are the Rules for the Renton tour:

Section 8 – Tour Rules and Regulations

1) All tours will be conducted as defined in BPI-3051, 737/757 Renton Site Tours.
2) No cameras, video or cell phones permitted as defined in Boeing procedure PRO-2783.
3) Visitors must comply with all safety regulations;
- No open-toed shoes
- No high-heeled shoes
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, ear plugs) as posted for the areas being visited (Steve's note: If any safety gear is required, they will provide it. This just states that you must comply with the regulations.)
4) Visitors must adhere to the tour path as defined by their tour guide.
5) No children under the age of 12.
6) Boeing escorts must remain with their visitors at all times and visit only those buildings defined on the badge request form.
7) The release or disclosure of Boeing Limited or Boeing Proprietary information in any manner is strictly prohibited. (Steve's note: I doubt we'd see anything "secret" anyway, but if we do, we have to keep our mouths shut and not blab about it here on a.net!)

Wow that is awesome. I wonder what the tour of Renton will be like. It will probably be far less commercialized than that 747 one in Everett. By any chance would it involve going on the floor, or are there catwalks in Renton as well?

I already confirmed my trip, Im so stoked to be there! One question....How many will be non-reving there and are you non-revers will be staying at the Ramada too? How are we doing with the transportation? Do we have anough vans to take us all?

The Ramada provides transportation to and from the airport. From what I understand a few members are renting vans for other transportation and we are all pitching in for the rental and gas. I too am looking forward to meeting everybody that is going. Should be a blast!

I will be non-reving, supposed to arrive about 930am on Monday. WindowSeat is going to send us all an email with addresses, times, and I believe phone number for each other so we can contact one another when we arrive.

What do you guys think of wearing name badges for the first day or so, with our username on top and our first name just below? Speaking for myself, I am bad with names until I associate a face and personality with the name.

N685FE, the badge idea is an excellent one; it certainly will help us sort out who's who. I'm bad with names, too. By 'non-reving' does that mean 'not driving'? Never heard that term before. I'll contribute to a van rental. Can't believe we get to see Renton, too; didn't know they made ANY provision for tours of that plant. This most definitely will be a trip of a lifetime! I assume the emails on room-sharing and other details will go out after tomorrow's cutoff for each of us to forward our trip confirmations; isn't this correct?

Non-reving, he isn't paying for his airline ticket. Most likely an employee who has the benefit of free travel. Although if the flights are full they don't go. Is anybody originating in Denver or stoping over in Denver on their way to Seattle?

My company certainly doesn't have that, not even for specific business. Sigh! And sorry, I'm coming straight from Newark, NJ to Seattle, I didn't want to deal with any stops.

Yup, Dinker225 is right. I work for an airline so i get to travel anytime I want if there is a seat for me. So far, in 5 years I have only missed a flight once.
Btw, I am departing from DFW with a co-worker who was very lucky to sign himself in at the last minute. We will pitch in for the rentals too.

Once you recieve all of the flights can you put together a schudule of when everyone is departing and arriving in seattle, also the airline, departure airport, etc.

I just sent you an e mail. For all those who are eager to join the tour. We have filled our 20 people quota for the group (although we would have loved to have more). So, the tours on the morning of 29th are full. But you are most welcome to join us the night before or for the stuff we've planned for the 30th. It's going to be a lot of fun and the more people who can meet up with us the better. However, I am really sorry, the tours for the 29th morning are fully booked.

Hey guys, fellow A.nutters. I just wanted to chip in here and congratulate you with this fanatstic joint effort. It's heart warming to see how this thing came together, and all the time and effort you put into this to make it a unforgetable worthwhile visit for people that you may have never met before.

If I wasn't located 10,000 km from the Seattle area, I would have most certainly joined. I wish you all the best to all of you who have contributed to make this happen. Make sure you have a really good time, and off course those who are unable to participate, we expect a very extensive trip report with lots of photo's [where possible].

OK guys, the tour of the Renton 737 Assembly is CONFIRMED!

I think this will also get us a visit out to the flightline where the 737s get their final work done before the flight over to Boeing Field for painting & delivery.

Anyway, I just got the confirming e-mail from the Renton Tours Coordinator and wanted to let you know the good news!

Tuesday, June 29th: 10:00 - 11:00 AM, Renton Assembly (4-81/82 Buildings)
