Virgin A380 Layout

Wed May 26, 2004 2:06 am

Don't know if anyone has seen this yet, or if it has been brought up here before, but was searching on v-flyer.com and found this proposed layout of the VS A380.

Somewhat disappointed that Virgin hasn't decided to put anything cool on board. Not that I was expecting a swimming pool or gym...I suppose the bar will have to suffice.

Only thing is...if Branson isn't going to entertain the possibility of outfitting the A380 with any of the ideas seen in A380 promotional material, who then will??? Probably no one.

Also Airbus is going to have to stop with the "Never more than one seat from the aisle" as the lower deck economy is clearly 3-4-3.

Hi, I think that this is only a speculation- just a guess, and the actual thing would not be like this. V-flyer is not an official Virgin Atlantic club/organization, its a group of VS fans. So I don't think that the picture is anything official from Virgin. The picture also says 'possible'. And the picture shows 4 abreast upper class suite on the upper deck- But the upper deck of the A380 should be similar to the A340 (8 abreat economy), so wouldn't it make more sense if the upper class is 3 abreast upstairs, like that on the A340?

Furthermore, I remember reading somewhere that Richard Branson told the media that there would be some exciting new stuff on the A380 that would be entirely new- I am looking forward to see what could that be !!

Cheers !

Mayhap an entire new way of cramming as many people into an aluminum tube as possible?  Wink/being sarcastic

Seriously though, my guess would be something in regards to (as much as I hate to admit it, seeing as how I'm NOT a fan of IFE) the IFE?

I agree with you comments Oxygen. Don't forget the possibility of adding features to the lower level, there is room for more things than cargo there.

It is very good for VS layout with A380 and we can try flying with new A380 in 2 or 3 years later.

There is going to be something exciting onboard, heard some rumors today, but not at liberty to say.

I'll just say that no other a/c will have this onboard.

Spill the beans leezyjet!

I had seen this before. Do any other airlines currently have 'diagonal seating' in first or business? Are there any safety restrictions on such designs?

As Oxygen says, this is speculation rather than fact. However, the reason for the 4 abreast rather than 8 is because of the Upper Class Suites. The 747 on the main deck is 1-2-1, 1-1 on the top deck and the A340-600 is 1-1-1. On the A380 I suspect it'll be 1-2-1 on both decks.

The 'possible' seatmap was based on the dimensions of the A380, the reported number of seats in each class (64 Upper, 48 Premium & 425 Economy) plus and educated guess in combination with the proposed seatmap on Airbus.com. It isn't correct, and as Leezy hints at, there will be some exclusive features on the VS A380 that will be quite revolutionary.

BTW - it's good internet etiquette to link to the page rather than suck the bandwidth from another site. Thanks.

VS must have something up its sleeve - look at the fact that one of the reasons for putting back delivery of its A380s was that suppliers could not provide some of the things they wanted in time for the aircraft's launch.

Leezy, glad to hear it.

Pix, thanks for the comment, i'll be sure to go about it in this manner in the future.

i really hope they do something nice with the A380.

Strip club, golf course, swimming pool, computing center, dining area, shopping area, tennis court, space shuttle launch center, gym, long jump, high jump, spa, massage parlour, library, glass bottom plane viewing area, race track, richmond park, underground station, classrooms...

or even just a little more space.

Let's say you were offered the choice:

1- you can have a bar, a lounge, a mall, a ice hockey field, a theater etc etc...

2- nothing of that, but wider seats, with more legroom and more privacy, even in coach (gasp).

What would you choose?

I've had a look at the website - you can find it here:

http://www.v-flyer.com/seats.asp then go to A380.

However, one thing that struck me is that there is no WC in Premium Economy according to this plan. Strikes me as odd!

Time will tell...
