AirTran Teaming Up With Miami Air?

Wed Jun 09, 2004 5:59 am

I was checking the Airtran web for future flights to FLL and noticed effective later in June, some flights between ATL and FLL are operated by Miami Air.
Whats the low down on this move?

It's just temporary for the summer. As the 717s take back over jetConnect flying, they needed something to fill a coupla holes in the sched. Will be gone (along with AirWisconsin and Ryan Int'l) by October.

Are these aircraft in Airtran colors, or isn't it a long-term enough contract to merit this? Also, any word on whether Airtran is interested in AirStar/Impulse's 717s as they are retired?

I believe they are 737-800s. I don't think they are repainting the plane, but I wonder if it has a business class.

Perhaps AirTran will really like the 738's and exercise their option and pick some up.

Big grin It'd be nice to see a 738 in the AirTran scheme (the old one anyway).

There HAVE been Miami Air 738s painted in Airtran colors, if I'm not mistaken.
